Publisher's summary

The Auld Mither, a crone-like hag with razor sharp bones for fingers, is killing off the proponents of a new abattoir in a deer farming community. And Dave Duncan seems to be next on the list. Can he figure out how to stop her? Or will he have to pay for the sins of his father?

I’m a sucker for a Scottish accent

Overall it was a really good story. Much shorter than what I usually listen to. Plot kept me interested as did the accent of narrator. Love Scottish and Irish folk horror. If you do too then I definitely recommend these stories. I will keeping eye out for future stories by the author.

Murder Mystery with Supernatural elements

Thank You William Meikle and Narrator A. D. Milne for this awesome telling of a Scottish Folklore. The narrator was perfect for this short story.

A Family Tragedy creates a passage into Maturity. This is an Eerie Scottish FolkTale with a Brilliant Twist. Do you follow in your parent foot steps or do you stand on your own to feet?

Lovers of Folklore will love this 99.9 percent sure

A not so quaint Scottish Folklore

This novella was really easy to get through, all the while still creeping me out! The Old Mother, potential protector of Scottish land or vengeful woman seeking to inflict pain on those most unfortunate.

This chapbook has our protagonist (son) going back home to attend his father's funeral, who's passed under unusual circumstances, leading us to cross paths with The Old Hag. I'm a huge folk-horror genre fan, so this was a quick, pleasant scare with some added notes of gore, which I thought were just enough!

Narration was done inclusive of a smooth Scottish accent and easy to listen to through the entirety of the audiobook. Overall, it was a short story but enjoyable!

Scottish Folk Horror

Family folk horror, with an engaging “mystery” that nicely captures that “Uh oh!” Feeling one gets when you anger the ancient evil. Took me a while to get through the story, because I kept falling asleep. Not because the story wasn’t engaging, but because the narrator has such a soothing voice! The Scots accent definitely lends to the atmosphere of this tale!

Spooky and totally captivating!

The Auld Mither by William Meikle, narrated by A.D. Milne, is a tale of a brutal slaying that forces a man on a journey to let go of the past and find himself.

The brutal murders, the spooky folklore, and the fast-paced storyline made this a home run for me!

This was such a fun listen! The gore at the start really kicked things off on a brutal path, and things only got spookier from there!

The audiobook was an absolute blast to listen to! Narrator A.D. Milne did such an amazing job! This is definitely a tale that you can get totally immersed in and lose all track of time while listening along.

William Meikle really delivers in his shorts

A really great horror story. Being able to write is amazing, being able
To write short stories is even more so. In a novel you have time to creat the characters, the mood of terror, the plot, etc. in short stories it must be done quickly and efficiently without seeming to rush the reader or leaving them feeling like it wasn’t developed enough. Meikle never leaves you feeling that way. Here we have a great short about an urban legend of the land come to life and taking its revenge in modern developers. Very well written and well narrated.
