Publisher's summary

This program features audio recorded by the author inside a fighter jet.

Based on a career of making high-stakes, split-second decisions as an elite U.S. fighter pilot,
The Art of Clear Thinking teaches listeners how to make better decisions in everyday life.

The training to become a fighter pilot is among the most competitive and difficult in the world with less than one-in-a-thousand succeeding. Pushing a cutting-edge jet to its limits at over 1,000 mph means that every split-second decision can have catastrophic consequences. This extreme environment has forged a group of warriors who for the last 50 years have been considered at the apex of decision-making theory and practice.

In The Art of Clear Thinking Hasard Lee distills what he’s learned during his career flying some of the Air Force’s most advanced aircraft. Through riveting storytelling—both from his time as a fighter pilot and fascinating turning points throughout history—Hasard relates to the audience in a compelling and accessible way that makes the audiobook as entertaining as it is useful.

Hasard has used and taught these decision-making techniques across the full spectrum of human endeavor and proved their effectiveness both in the cockpit and the boardroom. Those who have already benefited include CEO’s, astronauts, CIA agents, students, parents, and many others. The Art of Clear Thinking is an audiobook that will change how you interact with the world around you.

More than a business book

Every business book I’ve read tells stories to illustrate blindspots that led to disaster. I like this book since it uses “bet the company”, time sensitive scenarios. It coaches how to develop an ability to reach conclusions that are likely to succeed where time is of the essence and stakes are high.

Awesome

As an Air Force veteran, where I was a crew chief on the U-2 as well as the A-10, I would always pick the brains of the pilots. The U-2 and A-10 are both among the slower airframe that the Air Force has, so a lot of this I understood. Pilots of the airframe were utterly opposite in what their roles were, so when I would ask the pilots about random things, and I mean completely random things, this book explains a lot of the things id ask flawlessly.

Excellent!

Enjoyed book. Great ideas for thinking clearly and differs from a lot of self help books. Purchased book after purchasing audio so I can go through it again and take notes.

One of the best life advice books ever!

This book is fantastic. Great practically useful content in every single chapter along with engrossing and relevant stories. The narration by the author is outstanding. I’m buying the printed version to tape flag and highlight. I cannot say enough good things about this book—buy it!

Great Storytelling

Great storytelling with useful and insightful lessons. Hasard said his inspiration was Malcom Gladwell and I think the way he uses military and aviation stories to illustrate concepts was on target. This is not your typical fighter pilot book that over uses clichés to try and connect to business. Hasard has done his research and put together a book that combines fascinating military stories that translate to business lessons.
