Publisher's Summary

It’s your body.... It’s your mind.... It’s your choice....

If you’re reading this right now, you’re questioning how much you drink. Maybe you know you drink way too much, and you want to quit. Or maybe you’re just curious. You’re questioning whether you might be overdoing it a bit. No matter where you are on the drinking spectrum, you’re not alone. I’ve been there. And thousands of people inside the This Naked Mind community have been there, too.

You’re probably wondering why in the world you keep drinking, even though you’ve made a conscious decision to cut back or quit altogether. Are you sick of waking up with a hangover, having to piece together conversations and wondering if you said or did anything embarrassing? Are you even really enjoying yourself anymore?

If you’ve tried to give up or moderate your alcohol consumption in the past and failed, you need to know it’s not your fault. There’s something going on that you’re probably not aware of. And once you understand it, your eyes will be opened, and you’ll be able to undergo this experiment in a meaningful way. It won’t be just another failed attempt at willpower.

Are you ready to get in on the secret?

Let’s go!

Absolute life changer

I've found the audio book so motivating. It has really opened my eyes to how alcohol can take over your life. I listened to the book day by day and this has kept me on track to successfully complete the 30 days. Thank you Annie.

life changer

I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to write as this book and it's strategies has completely changed my life, my views on alcohol and my drinking habits. I listened to it twice and now for the first time in 30 years have a much better relationship with alcohol. If you want to cut back or stop, this is a great tool to help you do that and explains our emotional attachment to alcohol, the scientific and the harm :)

meh

Have read books like this before. And thought I'd give the dry January a boost after having read good reviews here I wanted to give it a go despite the negative ones, but have to say I found it quite patronising, and off-putting. Then didn't want to continue beyond that point. Think this is probably more suited to someone less experienced in this kind of book... or someone less experienced with self discovery on the whole. I could have carried on skipping through it, but nobody wants to do that all the way through. I'm sure it will be good for some, but it wasn't the one for me.

Very helpful in my quest to quit drinking

Really enjoyed the neuroscience information as well the exercises. Each time I think about wanting a drink, my mind immediately thinks about how it effects my mind and body, which stops the ‘wanting a drink’ thoughts in their tracks.

It’s been 30 days, now I feel I can really stop my subconscious mind taking control of the situation.
Thanks Annie, you really are making a difference in people’s lives.

Common knowledge on alcohol, & gender bias throughout

Should a woman have to put up with mediocre sex?
Statistics on alcohol related abuse against women but not men!
Gender bias comments throughout!
This book is written by a far right feminist with a clear bias against men, using them in many negative ways to back up dangers of alcohol.
Statistically it may be true that men are higher perpetrators than women in the illustrations discussed, but not once are females generalised negativity in an example.

This book is very preachy also... The writer try’s hard to make the reader believe she does not expect you to stop drinking forever as she did, but it is very obvious that is what the narrative is aiming to achieve.
Equally it using scare tactics that make a glass of wine after work the equivalent of a bag of heroine.

I only listened to 10 chapters. That was enough.

A revelation!

It's not until you hear the stark truth about a problem that you realise there is a problem.
A complete eye opener of a book and one I'll refer to over many years for instruction and reassurance.

utter rubbish

i think the author has been on on a one day course and now feels empowered to lecture us all. her experience is shallow and her voice is whining. listen to this only if you are her relation or want positive reinforcement of negative American stereotypes.

Change my life

A must for anyone who has an unhealthy relationship with alcohol.

I have either been drunk or hungover for over 20 yrs whilst still functioning at my life.

Doing this has made me like me for the first time and I cannot believe I relied on alcohol for everything.

I feel more vibrant, confident, healthy and happy from not drinking

Not for me

I purchased this book as my husband is an alcoholic. I am desperate for any help or enlightenment for this soul destroying, family destroying disease.
After purchasing this book and listening to the beginning, I discovered it is not for alcoholics or their support people. It’s only for people that like a social drink. For that demographic, it might be a good book. Just not for me or my needs.

Interest

When I first started listening to this all I wanted to do was go buy some wine lol. But by the end of it I felt differently

I went 23 days only but that is still a big deal for me and now I don’t drink like I used to

It has made me more aware and also it’s easier for me to say no as my mindset has changed

I recommend this book highly

Changed my whole attitude!

I’m not an alcoholic. And I was really hesitant to read and participate in the experiment because I enjoy alcohol. But after another night of waking up at 2pm totally restless and uncomfortable (I now know why!!) I decided to give it a crack! 31 days later my relationship with alcohol is much more informed, clear and manageable. Will I drink again? Who knows…I don’t feel the need for it like I once did. Thanks Annie. Highly recommended, alongside the 30 day app!!
