Publisher's Summary

Familiar faces. Brand-new alliances. An impossible enemy in their midst.

The Chicago survivors stagger into town on fumes. They’re injured, distraught, and suffering from innumerable losses. However, at Rock’s homestead - in the midst of a new threat - Fire and the group reunite with family and take refuge with local survivors.

Here, they come to realize the enemy of humanity has been posing as one of their own: a human. No one really knows what this means. Some realize they've leapt out of the frying pan and into the fire, while others see an opportunity to exact revenge. But for the select few, it means both...

Great conclusion to a great story

Really enjoyed this series as it touched more on the emotional battles we would have inside ourselves during a life altering event like this. It was really easy to fall in love with the characters as they journeyed. If you enjoy post apocalyptic novels but have been looking for something done differently than the others look no further.

Truly a thought provoking story!

WOW! This last book kept me on the edge of my seat! I kept seeing different endings, then the story line would jog off into another direction. Could not anticipate from one chapter to the next. Heart dropping ending. Can’t wait to see what you do next Ryan!
Kevin, your narration was a pleasure to listen to. Will look forward to more stories read by you.
Over all, this 5 book series was a definite 5 stars!

Best post apolitical (it) ending

this is on the edge of your seat ending. it was the computer's ending of mankind not like the terminator movies. better and more realistic the way a IT would try to be human like. worth the listen or read.

HOMERUN! Favorite book of the series

Usually, the first book in a series is my favorite and I understand this is not the last one but the big buildup scenes that have been steadily advancing finally payoff in clever real world nonfantasicical ways. It is a big gulp of air after not quite knowing if you can make it to the surface or not. Thank you Ryan and as always Thank you Kevin. Your artistry is appreciated.

AWESOME SERIES!

I LOVED this series. I got so into the different characters & various stories that I'd be listening to a book & suddenly I'd realize that it was part of "oh yeah, THAT 1st book, THAT series!" The ending was worth the wait! I highly recommend this! I listen to A LOT of these realistic various scenarios end-times types of books so think by now I can tell what's REALLY good, which this one was for certain!

Good concept but missing something

I liked the serious but I could have loved it. It was missing personality in the individual characters. They had a outline of a personality but overall, they all still had the personality, mannerisms, and even slang as the author. I believe on his next books if he spends time getting to know people of the age, sex and ethnic backgrounds of his characters, they will be much more believable.
