When I arrive unannounced at my husband's studio in need of a shoulder to cry on after hearing that my best student, Alex, has died, I see a pair of wineglasses drying by the sink, and my deepest fear is confirmed: my husband is having an affair. Most women would fall to their knees in tears and throw him out of the house - but I just can't bring myself to do it. Instead, I go home and cook a healthy dinner for our children, walk the dog, and unload the dishwasher without complaint. I need this marriage to work to protect a terrible secret of my own....

Publisher's Summary
Katherine Nichols knew she’d had too many drinks, but they were only going a short distance. “There’s no traffic anyway,” Eve had pointed out. And they'd had such a great night out, the two of them. Even now, driving them home and knowing she shouldn’t, seemed almost mischievous. All part of the fun. Not anymore.
If anyone ever found out about the accident, it would ruin Katherine’s life. It would destroy everything she's worked for. And then there's her daughter Abigail. What would happen to her? But no one has to know because Eve was there, too, and she’s going to help make it all go away. Except Katherine is about to find out that this isn't the end of the nightmare....
It's the beginning.

Narrator perfect for this twisty tale
For a few short chapters ... the protagonist lost my sympathy ... but I withheld judgment and I'm glad I did! Totally all came together and the ending had me riveted. A really good page turner with lots of twists and satisfying ending. The narration was spot on, too!

Not great, but pretty good...with exceptions.
Decent plot, but easily figured out...except by the protagonist. The story kept my interest, even though about two thirds of the way through I was a bit exasperated with the lead character. A seemingly strong, intelligent and independent woman failing to do any ‘due diligence’, allowing herself to be manipulated. No huge twist at the end and a less than completely satisfying ending. The narrator wasn’t great and had a couple of annoying voices for characters... the worst being a laughable Irish brogue. A limp thumbs up on this one.

Disappointed
I was excited to read this book after reading some of the reviews about it. That is why I am writing a review, so for people like me you can see the other side. This book was painful. I couldn’t even listen to the whole thing. The story is predictable, the characters are annoying, the dialogue is overkill, and it just isn’t that interesting. I am sad I wasted my free pick on this one.

A big waste of time!
This is one of the stupidest books I’ve read. Katherine may be business smart, but a real failure at common sense. Why did she take Eve’s word and not check things out on her own? She could have called to see if Uncle Bill worked at the police station. In fact she’s so stupid that when she escapes from Richard and goes to Hillary’s she still doesn’t dial 911 but wastes trying to solve the problem herself. I couldn’t stand Katherine’s door mat personality. I’m sorry I spent money on this book.

Painful
This book was literally painful to listen to (my stomach churned during the last few hours). Could any human being be as gullible as the main protagonist? No way. Could any villain be as one-dimensional as Eve? I seriously doubt it. The story careened from one improbable episode to another. The coincidences and poetic license were flowing like lava. Yikes! I strongly suggest you don’t waste your time or money on this book.

another dumb woman story
I really struggled to finish this one. I've never rolled my eyes so much during a book! it was absurd how much harrassment the main character allows herself to endure. I was committed and wanted to hear how the villainess got her comeuppance.

Intriguing
The story was great however the main character was sometimes so hard to like! How can anyone be that nice? I don't wanna give the story away but the way she continually did what she was forced into doing was so very annoying. Having said that, the story line was compelling and really kept you wanting to listen. Overall worth the credit!

lots of twists
I did enjoy this book quite a bit! There were lots of twists and turns, my only complaint is the lead character should have been smarter. It's kind of hard to believe because of some of dumb decisions she made, no one would do some of those things. With that said I did still enjoy the book!

Good story, liked the twist, shame the narrator ruined it.
I loved the novels by Natalie Barelli, I bought almost all of them. I listened to so many audio books, so I know a bad narration when I hear one. This one had the worst narration, almost like a robot trying to impersonate human voice. It completely detached from the characters. I thought I could bear it, I would have given up if the story wasn’t so gripping.
