Publisher's Summary

In the next “devilish page-turner” (People) from New York Times best-selling author J.A. Jance, Ali Reynolds learns that no good deed goes unpunished.

More than 10 years after the abrupt end of her high-profile broadcasting career, Ali Reynolds has made a good life for herself in her hometown of Sedona, Arizona. She has a new house, a new husband, and a flourishing cybersecurity company called High Noon Enterprises, where her team of veritable technological wizards hunts down criminals one case at a time.

But the death of an old friend brings Ali back to the last story she ever reported: a feel-good human interest piece about a young man in need of a kidney to save his life, which quickly spiraled into a medical mismanagement scandal that landed a prestigious local doctor in prison for murder.

Years may have passed, but Dr. Edward Gilchrist has not forgotten those responsible for his downfall - certainly not Ali Reynolds, who exposed his dirty deeds to the world. Life without parole won’t stop him from getting his revenge. Tattooed on his arm are the initials of those who put him behind bars, and he won’t stop until every person on that Annihilation List is dead.

In this gripping suspense novel from the New York Times best-selling author praised for her “inimitable, take-no-prisoners style” (Kirkus Reviews), Ali Reynolds and her team race against the clock to stop this ruthless killer - before her own name is crossed out for good.

A Fun Read

I started reading the Ali Reynolds’ series with book one. After the first two books I was not sure I wanted to continue, but I am glad I did as this has turned out to be an interesting series. I am a big fan of J. A. Jance’s other two series.

The book is well written and the plot twists and turns. The characters are interesting. There are a lot of flashbacks in this story. It is a story that Ali covered when she was a T.V. newsperson in Los Angeles and that has put her life in danger. Jance is such a great writer. The flashbacks are almost seamless. I am enjoying the antics of Frig, the AI, that Ali and her husband saved in a prior episode and are using in their business. Jance mixes routine life, humor and suspense to keep the reader engaged.

The book is eleven hours and twenty-four minutes. Karen Ziemba does a great job narrating the series.

Flashbackx

the main story was good but the flashbacks to her previous books was annoying. I don't know if anyone who is not familiar with this series would understand the many referrals.

Good review of main character's life

I am a J.A. Jance addict and this is a very good book. I appreciated some Ali recap since I had forgotten some of her life and it was enjoyable to review during the story line.

I am really glad that the AI is sill alive:)

Interesting story, too much fluff

My first Jance book. Great plot, timely subject. The excruciatingly lame extraneous details, some quite silly, were hard to take. I listened to most of the book at 1.25 or 1.50.

too anti-male

I made it to the end because I couldn't load anything else. obligatory lesbians, evil men, obvious storyline, long segments from other books ... no one thought much about the reader.

A Big Disappointment

Flashbacks and alternating story lines rarely work, and they do not work here. I skipped large chunks of the book and didn't feel I'd missed anything important to the story. I've enjoyed this series up to this point. I hope the author will get back on track.

Too. Much. Recap.

There was an unbelievable amount of recap. I know who Leland Brooks is! I know who Frigg is! I know the parents ran and a diner called the sugarloaf! I know what the B stands for in B Simpson! I know about the friend who was murdered! I know about the ex and how she got her money! I know about the scholarship program and why! I know about the cult rescue! I know whose sister Anslem is! Why are you telling me all this stuff that I have read in at least 8 other books? I'm done with the series now.

The narration was superb!!!

Karen Ziemba was just wonderful in her telling of this story. I saw some bad to mediocre to great reviews but I really enjoyed this story. I'm a big fan of The Joanna Brady and P.J. Beaumont series but never had I read or listened to Ali's books. This was a good book for me because of the flashbacks and intro to a new character. I loved the plot twists, characters, a little A.I. technology and how interesting this book was.

I might go back and listen to some of the earlier Ali Reynolds books and I'll definitely be listening to the next one. I knew I liked J.A. Jance and now I have another new fav character and narrator. I can't believe it took me this long to get into Ali's character. Sorry Ms. Jance. But I've read and listened to almost all your other books. My bad....
