Publisher's Summary

In Lisa Gardner’s first-ever short story following 13 best-selling novels, "The 7th Month" takes listeners between the books and into a day in the life of Boston Detective D. D. Warren.

In her seventh month of pregnancy, D.D. should be taking it easy. Instead, she accepts a small consulting role on the set of a serial-killer film shooting in Boston. D.D. figures she’ll be useful to someone for at least one night, serving as a police expert and making a little extra money in the bargain. It seems like a simple task—until the previous film consultant, a former Boston cop, is found beaten to death. Suddenly D.D.’s date with Hollywood gets serious.

Extremely pregnant, on the trail of a killer, and surrounded by a hundred and four murder suspects in the middle of a graveyard, D.D. must quickly unravel a tangled web of lies. As another cast member is attacked, D.D. realizes that like it or not, her priorities have changed—and her last desperate hope is that she can catch a killer before she and her unborn baby face mortal danger.

Packed with the suspenseful storytelling that has turned Gardner’s novels into New York Times best sellers, "The 7th Month" reveals new insights into a beloved series heroine.

OK

DD Warren is consulting on a film in a graveyard during her 7th month of pregnancy. The 7th MONTH is a worthwhile short story.

unsure

I like Lisa Gardner books, but... the plots are great, the men who are confident enough to deal with and like DD Warren are very likeable... but I don't like DD Warren much and I do like intelligent strong women. But she is glutinous, horribly rude and self-centered. She comes across as wanting to outsmart killers for her own ego with little feeling for victims or co-workers. I am going to try one of the profiler series. I have read so many books that I look for mysteries where I can't always figure out the endings and Gardner is usually good for that.

One of my favorite series!

Nice little filler novella in the world of D. D. Warren. The story was short, nicely paced, and not completely obvious (which is my absolute favorite part of Gardner's writing). As always Kristen Potter does a fantastic job at the narration.

Worth listening to while sleeping.

I'm all caught up with the D.D. Warren character. Also supporting characters. Thank you Audible.

Still a Cop

Sergeant-detective D. D. Warren is one person you don't want to mess with. During this short break in the series, we get to see the weaknesses of the heroine of the story. This gives an insight to the strength of author to portray her during her most delicate time in her life; motherhood.

One credit for this book?

Absolutely unconscionable to waste a credit on what was nothing but a very short BAD story. Shame on me for not checking the length of this tiny book before wasting my money.

Regular books are much better.

The narrator always does an amazing job. I have gotten used to thr voice of Detective D.D. Warren & would probably have to do some major adjusting if they ever use someone different for this character. The full books are much better. This was short & not very detailed at all like the previous stories. This insert should have just been added to one of the main books. This was my least favorite of r he series so far. I can not wait ro get baxk to the regular series. I could have skipped this & been completely fina about it.
