They say you shouldn't ask your mom whether your business is a good idea, because she loves you and will lie to you. This is technically true, but it misses the point. You shouldn't ask anyone if your business is a good idea. It's a bad question, and everyone will lie to you at least a little. As a matter of fact, it's not their responsibility to tell you the truth. It's your responsibility to find it, and it's worth doing right.

Most startups don't fail because they can't build a product. Most startups fail because they can't get traction. Startup advice tends to be a lot of platitudes repackaged with new buzzwords, but Traction is something else entirely. For every startup that grows to the point where it can go public or be profitably acquired, hundreds of others sputter and die.

not perfect but more relateable than others
this book is more of a boots on the ground early stage book. most other books I've read are for business beyond where I'm at and don't go into enough detail on the stumbling blocks of getting started with no or little money. I like his performance, but it's not as polished as others. I actually like that for this book, but just be aware.

I had already read previous reviews and listened to the sample. I thought myself the narration couldn't be that bad; the content appealed to me too much.
I was wrong. The narration is so, so incredibly terrible, I could not plow through 1 hour. I've requested a refund.
The reader omits commas, periods and tone - defeating the whole point of audiobooks.

Really good read
I enjoyed listening to this book. Lots of titbits on how to ensure a successful launch. I particularly like the fact that the author describes the necessary actions in ways that are not intimidating,- like anyone can do it! Spurs you to take action. The Scottish accent was a bit of a surprise, but I got used to it after the 1st chapter and by the 5th it added quite some authenticity to the read. Will listen to it again and again!

Story
You run a business. And running a business is hard. The burden of responsibility, the weight of stress, and the loneliness of running your business are a far cry from your friends who work salaried jobs. The path of least resistance is to let the stress and isolation of starting, running, and growing a business infiltrate most aspects of your life. Over and over, we've watched our fellow entrepreneurs succumb to the mental toll and chaos of running a business. We've also experienced it firsthand as we've launched and grown our own businesses.
