Publisher's summary

FBI Profiler Pierce Quincy and Officer Rainie Conner return in a baffling cold case in this short story by New York Times best-selling author Lisa Gardner.

A young woman is found strangled in the stairwell of a college library, only her sneakers missing. With no physical evidence, no signs of sexual assault, and no witnesses, all the police have to go on are the three men who were in the library with her: her boyfriend and two campus security guards...all of whom have secrets, none of whom can be proven guilty.

Five years later, ex-FBI profiler Pierce Quincy and his wife, former police officer Rainie Conner, agree to consult on the still-unsolved case, delving into deep background to comb for any clue that will lead to the woman's murderer. But with no leads and the case colder than the body, will they be able to build a case against one of the three suspects, or is there a fourth man out there? And if the killer has eluded the police this long, how far will he go to ensure justice is never served?

With Gardner's singular ability to delve into the minds of criminals and law enforcement alike, "The 4th Man" is a shocking look at the reasons for taking a life...and just how far profilers need to go to learn them.

It's all about the shoes!

Almost 9 years after releasing Say Goodbye, the 6th and most recent novel in her FBI Profiler/Pierce Quincy series, Lisa Gardner releases a The 4th Man, a FBI Profiler short story that also includes D.D.Warren and of course Quincy's wife Rainie Connor. Later this month Gardner will release Right Behind You which is the 7th novel in the Quincy/Profiler series.

The 4th Man is an interesting cold case murder mystery set in Boston. The real surprise is that Luke Daniels narrates. She seldom uses male narrators even for male voices (exceptions are Kirby Heyborne once and Mikael Naramore once).

Not worth a credit

Audible shouldn't allow a book to be sold for a credit when it's shorter than a certain length.

I saw a book, by an author I liked, and never thought to look at length, never suspecting it would be shorter than 2 hours.

Disappointed is an understatement!

Not great.

I wasn't very taken in with this story. It was a bit slow and predictable. I'm not a fan of Lisa Gardner, but every couple of years I'll try one of her books. They certainly aren't terrible. It's just that they don't transport me into picturing the characters, being right there with them

Short!

It was ok but not with a credit!!! Don’t waste it because it has nothing to do with the rest of the series other than Quincy and Rainie

Too short for a credit

The sorry is ok, but it shouldn’t require a full credit. I wish I had looked at the length or the reviews to see how short it is. I bought it merely off of the list of books in the series. I tried to return it, but audible wouldn’t allow it because I had listened to too much of it. All I did was start the book and see the length before trying to return it!

Great story, shouldn’t have cost a credit.

As with all of Lisa’s stories, it was wonderful. But there’s no way this should’ve cost me a credit. This should’ve been a free story or added onto another novel.

Come on 2 hours???

Story was good but should’ve been free. Shame on Audible taking my credits like that.

Way too short for the cost

It’s crazy to charge a whole credit for a book less than 2 hours. Audible should do better. How is this even considered a book.
