6 + 4 = 10

I loved Ten Dates! It was full of laugh out loud moments and witty banter. Joanie found herself in some interesting situations. This was one of the funniest romantic comedy books I've listened to. I didn't realize this was the start of a series but apparently it is and now I'm looking forward to Ten Dares to come to audiobook so I can listen to it. Kim Bretton did a great job bringing this story to life. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Ten Dates

After a tragic break up Joanie's friends try to help her pick up the pieces. And it all starts with 10 dates they set up for her. Each one is funnier than the last and poor Joanie just wants to finish this challenge. Her hot neighbor keeps witnessing her downfall and she just can't seem to get away from him. I absolutely love this book and well the whole series. They are defiantly witty, keep your entertained and are so hard to put down. The narration really makes the book and brings it to the next level!

It was a fun distraction!! ( a man's perspective)

you're probably thinking why in the world would a guy listen to look like this? well I guess it was kind of a mistake oh, I was grabbing some books it was suggested I was in the mood for something light and funny and romantic so I guess this was okay. as a sidebar oh, I'm an older guy, who's currently separated oh, so the whole concept of dating is kind of a little funny and kind of give me something to think about. so about the book, it's extremely British! the young lady who reads it has a British accent on steroids! I had some friends from England and let me tell you this book is full of little teeny references phrases all kinds of things! it was a little bit predictable oh, and I suppose it would make a good Hallmark movie if it was set around Christmas time, but it was very funny and there were lots of humorous references the things that would have been much funnier to a woman, as in, when a woman refers to her high heels as "traitorous little bitches" because they failed her unimportant night oh, well if that's the kind of thing that a male writer might not have thought of! all in all it was funny and I would say that if you're the average type of guy who really doesn't quite understand what goes on in a woman's mind, and you just don't understand why your first date with a woman only last seven and a half minutes oh, you might want to listen to this book and get yourself a little bit clued-in!

really funny

It started off a little boring with the first chapter being a little triggering, but it shortly makes up for it with funny antics. The main character finds herself in very awkward situations but totally takes her misfortune in stride. she is surrounded by a cast of truly caring friends. The side characters are likable but a bit cliche.

Bad language, too coarse and predictable

It could be funny and fun, if it wasn’t for the bad language and coarse verbiage. Very predictable storyline

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.

I absolutely loved this book; it was one of the most fun and vivacious books I’ve listened to to date. The adult humor in this was straight up my alley & I think me and 4 could be BFF’s in real life. Can not wait to hear the other books Emily James has to offer!

Numbers really do add up

This is a funny book with lots of quirky mishaps and a constant #6 in the background. Joanie has been living her life and so sure this is it. Her boyfriend of the last several years is going to pop the question tonight and they will get married and she will live mundanely ever after. See she is content, not deliriously happy, but isn't that all anyone can ask for, to be content? Well when the proposal turns into something else Joanie needs to regroup and do something else. That's when her best friends decide she needs to go on 10 dates and surely out of ten men she will find a prince among all the frogs. Turns out there are more frogs than princes afterall and Joanie has some terrible dates and her neighbor down the hall in apartment 6 isn't helping matters. Six is tall and handsome and built like a dream so getting women is no problem for him but the woman he really wants lives in apartment four so 6 and 4 begin this new battle amongst themselves and time will tell where they land and if numbers really do add up and maybe 6 + 4 = 10 afterall. Kim Bretton is funny and does a good job narrating this book. It is definitely British in both the writing and narrating so some of the wording is slightly different from US slang but great story and I loved it. I recommend this audiobook.

Too funny!!

I need these women as my friends. They are funny, real and just the perfect amount of crazy that everyone needs in their lives. This book is Joanie’s book. We start with her at a party, what she hopes is her engagement party. Sadly (or great for the readers, depends on who you ask!), it is not meant to be. Her friends challenge her to 10 dates. In 10 days And, ah, what dates they are. I couldn’t stop laughing at some of the dates (Adrian Byrnes- oh my). In the background, is Six, her neighbor, and he’s a great character. Sweet but a little wicked but overall, a protector. He’s apparently gifted in erm certain areas, as some accidental falls and grabs have demonstrated. And their banter lead to a lot of giggles and laughs. Great characters, fun writing and a strong sense of humor makes this book (and series) a must read. The narrator, Kim Bretton, narrates all three books in this series and I’ve listened to her in book 2 and this book reinforces my initial impression of her. She’s high energy, hilarious and a perfect narrator for the slightly crazy and oh so funny characters. I can’t wait to listen to the third book in the series. I bought the ebook and requested and received this audiobook.

Hilarious

10 Dates is my first novel from Emily James and I am now hooked on this author and I want more. This romantic comedy had me laughing til tears were rolling down my face. The characters were likable, down-to-earth and relatable, the situations were amusing and comical, and you will enjoy every moment of this story. It was well written with the perfect blend of romance, heartbreak, friendship and comedy. I loved the back and fort banter between "4" and "6" and the addition of the secondary characters Mikey and Melinda added another level of hilarity to the mix. 10 Dates was an excellent story and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of romantic comedies. I listened to the audiobook version of this novel. The narrator, Kim Bretton did a marvelous job with the characters. She had varying voices for each character and was able to infuse the correct emotion for them all. Her pace was excellent and she was perfectly suited to this role. It was a pleasure listening to her narrate this novel.

Predictable but funny

I thought it was pretty funny, and had a few laugh out loud moments. However, the storyline was shallow and predictable. If recommend it if you like light heated rom-coms.
