Story
In lyric, accessible prose, Carlo Rovelli invites us to consider questions about the nature of time that continue to puzzle physicists and philosophers alike. For most listeners, this is unfamiliar terrain. We all experience time, but the more scientists learn about it, the more mysterious it appears. We think of it as uniform and universal, moving steadily from past to future, measured by clocks. Rovelli tears down these assumptions one by one, revealing a strange universe where, at the most fundamental level, time disappears.

His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. A collection of outrageous stories by the stand-up comic, TV host, and inspiration for the movie National Lampoon's Van Wilder. Bert Kreischer doesn't know how to say "no". If he did, he wouldn't have gotten himself mixed up with a group of Russian mobsters on a class trip to Moscow, earning him his nickname "The Machine". He wouldn't have wrestled with a bear or swum with sharks on national television. He wouldn't have (possibly) smoked PCP with a star of Saturday Night Live.

As this book's title suggests, Norm Macdonald tells the story of his life - more or less - from his origins on a farm in the-back-of-beyond Canada and an epically disastrous appearance on Star Search to his account of auditioning for Lorne Michaels and his memorable run as the anchor of Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live - until he was fired because a corporate executive didn't think he was funny. But Based on a True Story is much more than a memoir; it's the hilarious, inspired epic of Norm's life.

A lesson for all who approach audible as a medium
I am a huge fan of the old time radio programs and A small Fist Full of Dollaws is a throw back to the good old days when people wrote radio plays. You can listen to a story wrote for radio being acted out and then try listening to a book being read. There is no comparison. You never have to ask who is supposed to be saying that? You never have to listen to some guy do a !@#$ high pitch voice to insinuate a female character is speaking. I'm probably in the minority on this but I think writers who want to pursue audible would be better served to write for it old radio style. Short and to the point. I have tried to listen to a couple of audible books and it sounds so stupid I just can't get into it. Unlike the books I tried to listen to, Fist goes full on into comedy using all the genera's I love to paint a rough scummy exploitation environment sure to escalate into violence and hilarity. The unknown narrator here sounds good enough to play Johnny Dollar. It's so reminiscent of old time detective shows it pulls you right along and right into the story assured that this is a top quality production. The guy who plays Dollaw pulls from the master and godfather of blacksploitation Rudy The Human Tornado Ray Moore. Delivering lines that come off powerful and hilarious he punches you right in the face with laughter. The humor is anti pc and despite what lily white privileged puds think makes a brother feel right at home. They pay true homage to keeping your pimp hand strong. It paints the picture of Dollaw as a real man surrounded by women constantly. Unlike the modern so called straight man who thinks one woman makes the man and hangs out with dudes all day, Dollaw is at home with us who see how gay the rest of you are. I mean you know how many gay guys I know who have been with "a" woman and then ended up spending most their time with men at gyms and on fields? Even when this excellent effort at recreating like a flash back ride into the 70's end's the creators come on and do a personal show. How many authors respect their audience enough to do that? They get up close and real personal and show that even in their personal lives, unlike most writers, they are actually interesting and funny. I highly recommend this to anyone into G thangs. If you like truck Turner, If you think The Hammer should have got a raise not fired, if you like the scene in black Belt Jones where dude turns off the lights and whips up bad, if you think Isaac Hayes was the man kicking butt next to a slap happy priest like in Three tough guys, this is for you. They are ahead of the game and other authors stand to learn from their example.
