Publisher's Summary

Trees can't tell jokes, but they can certainly tell stories....

Red is an oak tree who is many rings old. Red is the neighborhood "wishtree" - people write their wishes on pieces of cloth and tie them to Red's branches. Along with her crow friend, Bongo, and other animals who seek refuge in Red's hollows, this "wishtree" watches over the neighborhood.

You might say Red has seen it all. Until a new family moves in. Not everyone is welcoming, and Red's experiences as a wishtree are more important than ever.

Funny, deep, warm, and nuanced, Wishtree is Newbery Medalist and New York Times best-selling author Katherine Applegate at her very best - writing from the heart and from a completely unexpected point of view.

Beautiful story!

I enjoyed this audio book just as much as my children that are 3,7,8 & 10. The story was beautiful and teaches a great lesson as well as unlocks the imagination.
The narration was wonderful as well.

Excellent and a delightful read!

Everyone ought to read this book, children and adults alike. Children will love it and adults will ponder it. This book shows that children can be easily taught and they can often be our best teachers.

fast, good, break from reality

The author used descriptions that fell in love with. I wish I were as creative. my favorite was, "the stars freckled the sky."

Wonderful message

this book was incredible. it's short and powerful, and although it's a little slow at first, it was 100% worth the listen. I'd recommend it to adults and children alike.

Wish we all thought like Red

Great story about compassion and friendship through the eyes of a tree. My son and I loved listening to this and learning about how animals are named and how they stand up for Red, a wonderful tree who is a youthful 216 rings. Great story to listen to in the car or at bedtime.
