Publisher's summary

Love. Honor. Protect.

As an environmental studies major, Allie knows the planet is in trouble - a series of natural disasters recently rocked the northern hemisphere, and species across the globe are going extinct. What Allie doesn't know is that her world's decline is a result of an ancient battle called the Night War - the Norse goddess Nott's crusade to control the weakest of the light realms. And Allie most definitely doesn't know that her existence is the only thing stopping Nott from dragging the earth into total darkness.

When four gorgeous guys show up claiming to be Allie's Asgardian protectors, she thinks they're delusional. And when they order her to hunt down the pieces of an immortal weapon, she's convinced they're insane. But when Allie's attacked, the guys' crazy stories of demigods and dark elves begin coming together. And Allie's not sure what scares her more - losing her life to the Goddess of Night...or losing her heart to one of her protectors.

Let the hunt begin.

If only

The story had potential it's a little cheesy but that's fine.... it's the writing that killed it for me and the narrator a bit... seriously the writing felt like a sixteen hour old girl decided to try her hand at writing. It felt like she tried to mix a romance novel with a YA novel but failed miserably at both. Maybe try editing and using more words then hotness and phrases like "that's what she said".

However I did like the Norse mythology the author sounded like she knew a bit and did research for it.

Love love love this book 📚

I love this story. Nothing like a Norse mythology story to ignite the imagination. Another bad ass chick and her 4 sidekicks ( 4 hot sidekicks). I would recommend to all my friends. The narrator did a fantastic job with the characters. I like her style.

Great Book But...

The book itself was really enjoyable. It kept a good pace throughout and I ended up growing quite an attachment to Allie's four protecters. However, liking them was difficult at first because of the narrator. She made them all sound like Zelda Rubinstein mixed with a dwarf that's suffering a cold; and these guys are supposed to be ultra hot demigods! So as you can imagine this is a really odd mix to try to imagine. I finally managed to get past it when I decided to just imagine them as various rolls of Chris Hemsworth ;). Another thing that the narrator did that drove me crazy was when ever the main Zelda Rubinstein (AKA Tori, the hottest of the bunch) would talk, he would talk in fast forward - seriously super fast. Even if he was being romantic; he would say it so fast in that raspy girl voice it didn't really have a chance to sink in. Other than that it was a great book and I can't wait to read the next one (and I'll make sure to READ it so maybe the characters will have a chance to redeem themselves from the slaughter of their supposed sexy voices!)

ready for book 2

I really enjoyed the book in terms of overall storyline, but wasn't a huge fan of the narration. While the main character IS fairly young, I felt like the narrator made her seem downright juvenile.

Good story, but narration almost killed it for me

While I enjoyed the story, the mix of imagination and Norse mythology was refreshing, the narrator’s mispronunciation of the MMC’s name frustrated me and detracted from my enjoyment of the story. The name issue bothered me enough in the first book to look up how the authors spelled his name. The narrator opted to pronounce Tore (Torr) as Toré (Tor-ray). It gave a book entwined with Norse mythology a distinctly French feel.

I did enjoy the twist on Norse mythology, but the story did seem to drag a bit. It could be the jolt that interrupted the smooth flow of the story every time the narrator mispronounced the MMC’s name that made it seem to drag.

Good storyline

I've listened to all 3 books. I think the storyline is ok, but could use a lot of improvement. This story had a lot of potential to be amazing, but falls short in areas. The main character prays saying "Dear Universe...." and at first it was funny but it happens A LOT and it's super annoying, especially by book 3. I also feel like this character, who is in her early 20s, is very childish. This book does a decent amount of foreshadowing, but it falls short on following up on it.

As for the voice actors for this book, she can be a little monotone during emotional parts. For the most part, she does do a decent job. I have listened to other books that she has read, and she does the same job as the others.
