Publisher's Summary

This innovative, heartfelt debut novel tells the story of a girl who's literally allergic to the outside world. When a new family moves in next door, she begins a complicated romance that challenges everything she's ever known.

My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically I'm allergic to the world. I don't leave my house, have not left my house in 17 years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He's tall, lean, and wearing all black - black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can't predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It's almost certainly going to be a disaster.

Bubble Girl Meets Boy

Maddy has rare immune disease and must live in a sterile environment with minimal contact to the outside world. Enter new family next door with curious new boy, dressed in black, attempting to communicate via the window and bundt cake (it's a funny reference if you read it). Her mother is overprotective (no spoiler there); Olly's home life isn't ideal; and Maddy becomes more daring, wanting to experience the great big, wide world.

Sweet is an overused word, as is cute, but they fit. Maddy is innocent and likable, Olly is humorous and patient and I'd love to know where I can get a Carla (Maddy's constant companion/nurse). With an easy, mellifluous style, the story carries you away and it's over too soon. The mark of an enjoyable read.

Absolutely Amazing

Studies show there are only 12 different types of storytelling that are possible, and this one is now one of my favorite books. Similar the book Aristotle and Dante Discover the Universe, I will re-listen/read this book because the effective storyline and strong relatable characters. The characters are given solid backgrounds and throughout the story. I hope you enjoy this book as much as anyone else who has shared a positive review about this book!

Wonderful story!

I loved, loved, loved this story! Not sure if I would have had the same reaction if I had been reading rather than listening - the narrator was fabulous. Inspiring and had a twist I truly didn't see coming.

A BOOK TO READ BEFORE YOU DIE.

I have very few words for this book as I just listened to it and it is still fresh in my mind. I read a lot and rarely find a book that I will go back to and listen to all over again. However , Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon is a story that I will carry in my heart for a long time. The story is not only well written but it's illustrations of love and loss and life is one of the most riveting and (allow me to be redundant but ) spellbinding stories I've ever heard. I highly, highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone no matter age. "Everything is a risk. Not doing anything is a risk. It's up to you."

Was expecting more.

It's a great story but very anticlimactic. it just ends! Grrr! I wish there was more about what happens once she and Ollie meet up and her mother ect.

Bubble boy with no description.

This girl hasn't left her house and when she goes out the work should be so descriptive and fancinaying. I want to feel like I'm there. Seemed like she hardly cared. Such a shallow book, so hard to finish even had a quick read.

It was exactly bubble boy...

the story was interesting but the narrator was dull, not a book I'll keep in my library.

Beautifully written!

If you could sum up Everything, Everything in three words, what would they be?

Interesting, Beautiful, Diverse

What about Bahni Turpin and Robbie Daymond ’s performance did you like?

I am not a fan of Bahni's voice in this book. I typically have a hard time adjusting to the voices of a new audiobook, but Bahni's was one I never quite got used to. She does a great job expressing feeling, however.

Any additional comments?

Overall, this book is beautifully and skillfully written. I look forward to reading more work from Nicola Yoon.

good story but I kept wanting more

I like this book a lot. I must confess I read it because the movie's coming out and I always like to read the book before I see the movie. It was a good story but I kept wanting more.

A story to be heard again

I loved this book, I knew I'd be hooked from the start and I was. the characters were well thought out and the story, though on face-value, seemed slightly fare-fetched, was very believable.
I wish it had been longer, I want to know if Madeleine completely recovers, does her mother? What happens to Carla?
Definitely recommend this book.

A book that leaves that happy feeling.

I am not a person who enjoyes romance novels but I really enjoyed this. You can feel the main characters inner struggles about not being able to live. I think there could be a metaphore out there for all my fellow introverted people out there but I am not sure. After I finished listening It left me with a happy feeling knowing the characters are very well off.

Great story

I really liked Robbie Daymond as Olly. But I wish he had narrated all of Olly's parts, not just the IMs. It didn't really make much sense to me that he didn't and it kinda threw off the immersion a little bit. Over all a great listen tho!

my favourite book

loved it. The narrator was super understandable. The book was emotional and I couldn't stop reading it. One moment I was smiling and laughing and the next I would be crying along with the characters.

Thought provoking

Despite a few doubtful elements in the plot, the story held my attention from beginning to end. Young adults should love it.

Average at best

I found the narration to be so painfully slow that I was forced to speed the audio to make it bearable. I also deduced the plot and "twist" long before the reveal. Overall disappointing recommendation.

Fantastic book

*SPOILER ALERT*

This is a WONDERFUL book! There is a little intimacy at one point, but other than that, the book is AMAZING! It tells a wonderful story of a girl who is allergic to the world. In the end she finds out that she wasn't sick at all, but that her mum still hadn't recovered from the main character, Maddie's father and brother dying. Maddie finds love in this story and goes to places she always dreamed of going but couldn't. I recommend it to anyone who loves a good romantic and sad but happy book. It's just amazing.
