The death of General George S. Patton is shrouded in mystery. While officially the result of an unfortunate car accident, the evidence points to a far more malevolent plot: murder. So says investigative and military journalist Robert K. Wilcox in his book Target: Patton: The Plot to Assassinate General George S. Patton.

Written like a WWII spy thriller and meticulously researched, Target: Patton leads you through that fateful December day in 1945, revealing a chilling plan to assassinate General Patton. Backing up this shocking story with facts, photos, and eyewitness statements, Wilcox reveals long-hidden documents and accounts that explain how secrets Patton knew - and his strong anti-Soviet views - may have cost him his life.

Not only does Wilcox reveal how, why, and when, he also names names, exposing little-known stories and secrets of such key players as General "Wild Bill" Donovan, the storied head of the OSS (the predecessor to the CIA); an OSS assassin; an Army intelligence agent; and even Josef Stalin himself.

Target: Patton challenges readers to look at the evidence and question the conventional wisdom. After reading it, few will think of General Patton or the circumstances surrounding his death in the same way again.

Patton was the greatest general America has ever produced. The Germans were mortified by him as were the Russians. A must read for all WW2 /Patton/Stalin history buffs!...Also the reader was excellent...five star *****-

Fascinating History - also well read.

I never paid attention to the death of Patton. There was a crash and he died. But wait! There is a story behind the headlines and Robert Wilcox tells it thoroughly and with a unique style that comes out of his background as an investigative reporter. He leaves no stone unturned and more importantly has no agenda. There are facts. There are opposing opinions. All are handled deftly and with the progression of a fictional story. This book has made me want to know more about Patton's genius and his flaws. As with every great general, some contradictions are hard to explain. I really enjoyed this book for its accuracy in presentation and of the personal quest that the author explains. One of the biggest surprises to me is the revelations of Soviet treachery during and after WWII. Previous histories of Patton's death have not had the perspective of recently revealed documents. They make a huge difference in our understanding of what really happened to Major General Patton. Read this book!

Gripping and Fascination

A lot of reviews claim a poor narrator but really it was poor editing and in my opinion, it wasn't that bad. If you don't mind the sound of the occasional page turning then I HIGHLY suggest that you give this book a listen. It brings to light a lot of history that has been silenced or suppressed. This book was very well researched and very well put together. I will definitely be listening to it again.

Extremely Important Book!

After having visited General George S. Patton burial site in Luxembourg and watching Brass Target the movie staring George Kennedy I realize that just about anything is possible. Eisenhower was awarded a Soviet medal at the end of World war 2 that can be viewed in the Order’s and Medals Society publication dated either 2007 or 2008. Eisenhower political speech beware the military industrial complex but he forgot to mention his own political ambition also. The 20th century history is filled with the demise of important people such political intrigue then was common curious to see if Russia ever released documents about Patton.

Target Patton plausibly deniable

Narrator should learn to read and pronounce the words very amateurish. Good unable to put down story.
