Publisher's Summary

As the battle against the invading aliens reaches its endgame, a group of bad-boy bikers and mercenaries will stand and fight for humanity’s survival....

Tane Rahia is good at one thing - fighting. Before the alien invasion, he fought as a mercenary in the worst jungle hellholes. Now, he’s the leader of Squad Three - a.k.a. the berserkers - and he’s fighting to protect his brothers, his friends, and the last of humanity’s survivors. It doesn’t matter if he dies, he knows he belongs in the shadows, doing the dirty work and taking dangerous risks so others don’t have to. There is no warm woman, no love, and no redemption for him, and especially no small, sweet alien woman who he struggles to ignore.

Abducted from her homeworld by the Gizzida, Selena endured captivity and torture. Then she found herself on a distant planet called Earth and rescued by tough, heroic humans. She’s recovered, made a new family for herself, and come into a power that she never knew she possessed. She’s determined to experience everything life on vibrant Earth has to offer and to protect her new home. And she discovers that one battle-hardened, intense man is the only one who ignites a passionate desire that leaves her breathless.

The humans have fought hard, but now the Gizzida have created three deadly, humanity-ending bombs. Tane’s not happy that Selena’s help is vital in the fight against the aliens, and nor is he ready to face her stubborn confidence nor the white-hot desire flaring between them. But as they enter their final make or break fight, Tane and Selena know they need to fight as one. They may not survive the final battle, but they have to try: for their friends, for the planet, for humanity.

Tane and Selena

This final book of the series gives all the feels. I can't even describe how much very emotions were invested- so much so that, when rereading, it didn't stop my heart from breaking in places though I knew the outcome.

Wonderful series.

The Ultimate Sacrifice

Tane and Selena are from two different worlds but couldn’t be more aptly matched if they tried! Tane is all Alpha Male (strong, silent, deadly)! While Selena is docile, resilient, intelligent and compassionate! Selena recognizes the man Tane is, yet accepts and offers him the love he desires but is too strong to ask for!! On the other hand, Tane provides the safety Selena needs while respecting her ability to contribute to the community that openly accepted her! Together, they defeat the Gizzida by any means necessary!! Their love and willingness to sacrifice themselves save the world!!

Best Series Ending

One of the best series endings ever.
Anna Hackett's Hell Squad series if one of my all time favorite series. I love her world building. She adds a few more details with each book , much like adding color to the page to bring the reader into the world. Her characters have flaws that the reader can identify with- strong characters that use their flaws to the betterment of others. Tane is the final book in the 20 volume series bring a close to the overall plot and telling the story of the final two characters, Tane and Selena, a mercenary who's lost way too much and an abducted alien, far from home fighting to save her new world. This whole series is on my 'must ready list and will appeal to lovers of action, romance, and adventure. Enjoy!

A Beautiful Closure to an epic journey

I have loved this entire series since I first discovered it on my kindle. I've come to love these characters and the dynamics between them all, the camaraderie that one rarely finds in a book series. This entire series draws you in from the very beginning, as you're rooting for each and every main character in each and every book. And what I love about this entire series is that the characters carry on and are present throughout the whole thing. I have dreaded the ending of this series though because I wanted it to continue, wanted to keep reading these dynamic characters and about their building relationships and triumphs over the dreaded Gazzida. As much as I did dread it, I have to say that Anna Hackett brought this series to an end beautifully. Not only did she venture into other groupings (in Survivors) but she tied it all together wonderfully and throughout it all, there was love, both romantic, familial and for the planet and our fellow man. This is going to be a series that I revisit often in the years to come.

It’s over?

I’m sad to see this series come to an end; I knew Tane and Salina’s story would be the bomb (literally). This is the best series I‘ve listened to so far. Must listen to more of Anna Hackett’s books; she is my kind of writer! Hope to find narrators in more books; they work well together and for this genre!

Excellent finish

While each book is fine as a stand alone, this is an amazing culmination to the end of the series. Didn’t expect to get lessons on the beauty of life from a sci-fi romance novel, but there’s a lot of great moments in this book. I do wish it had been a bit longer as it felt like we got right into it with far fewer moments to linger, but it was concise and to the point! Lol.

Wow!...Just Wow! You have got to read this book...

The Book

Wow!...Just Wow! You have got to read this book...

If you've been reading Anna Hackett's fantastic, all-action, science fiction romance series Hell Squad from the beginning, then you will probably feel about the same as I do right now... sitting here having just finished reading Tane, the twentieth and final book in the series, emotionally wrung out with tears streaming down my face and wearing a goofy smile. If you haven't been following the series, then you've missed out on a lot of really excellent stories, however there's enough history and background in the book that it can read as a stand alone, but you'll be cheating yourself if you don't read the others.

What can I say? I've been addicted to this series for years and have waited for this story, always wondering when it would appear, since the exceptional alien, Selena, first appeared as a character in 'Shaw', (or was it 'Holmes'?) so very many books ago and when it finally came... it broke my heart, hence the tears, and the No, No, No! chanting.... and then put it back together in the most wonderful and amazing way. The reason for the goofy smile.... of course!

I'm really not sure what to write without giving spoilers and I'm not going to do that so maybe a quick recap for the uninitiated would be in order? Set sometime in the future when the majority of the former Commonwealth and free countries have formed themselves into the United Coalition, the Earth was decimated without warning by the invading Gizzida, a brutal, reptilian species who destroyed all the major cities and the vast majority of the planet's population in the first wave of the attack two years ago, and then carried on the destruction and killing from there. The few thousand survivors, that we know about, huddle together in small(ish) groups, fighting for survival, hiding mostly in underground former military bases around the planet and continually battling with the enemy, hoping against hope that they can find a way to drive the aliens away and reclaim the planet. And it certainly comes down to the wire but.... Hang onto your hats and let the final battle begin...

The final solution awaits between the covers of Tane and I can't recommend it highly enough. I've given this book what seems like a paltry 5 stars when compared to the magnitude of excellence in it's pages, and added it to my list of books to rescue if the house was burning down. I binge read this series, as far as it went, last year, not for the first time, and will probably be doing that again before Christmas, although at the moment, I'm steadily working my way through all the available audio versions and loving them just as much. From beginning to end, I absolutely loved it and I'm so sorry to see it come to an end, spectacular though it is....

The Audio

I'm totally addicted to this series and I got this as an ebook when it was first published a year or so ago. I'll freely admit that I've read it more than once since then, but I've been having intermittent problems with my eyes for a couple of years now, so I've turned to audio books to fulfill my need to re-read my favourites. I did try audio books a few years ago, but the narration was so bad, even dreadful, that I gave up on them for quite a while, however, Anna Hackett seems to get significantly better narrators than some I've listened to and I'm overjoyed to say that the two who narrate this series, Jeffrey Kafer and Samantha Cook are incredibly good, probably the best I've come across and are truly the exception rather than the rule. They managed to maintain the gritty fight for survival action adventure nature of the book and I highly recommend it to any lover of all-action, alien invasion sci-fi wrapped in a little romance with a few steamy bits for added spice. Having listened to 'Marcus', the first book in the series and been really impressed, I got all the other books in the series that are available as audio versions to back up my kindle eBooks, just so I don't get withdrawal symptoms when I can't read them. This is my review of the twentieth and, sadly, last book in the series. The audio versions also have the added bonus of allowing me to do other things whilst listening, although I do tend to get sucked into the story and end up just listening instead of actually doing anything else at the same time. I find I listen a lot more than I read these days, was lucky enough to get a free Audible code for it and have already listened to Tane several times since getting it. As I'd already posted an honest review of the ebook when it came out in May 2020, I decided to update that review with my personal opinion of the audible narration, especially as I have been so disenchanted by audio books in the past.

Yup I just loved it

Selina is my hero and Tane is the best wing man ever.
Ms Hackett pulled it all together and ended it with a bang..(pardon the pun)
Action packed edge of your seat scary hot and oh so chapter 20!!!❤❤❤
Thanks to Sam and Jeffrey for their wonderful narration in this series and although each book was short it ploughed through excitement and love. Double whammies for the Sci fi drama junkies and the heart throbbing steamy love alphas and their women.
The clues and problems were linked together nicely with each book
But there was 2 books in the series that i didn't really take to. although action packed the plot just hovered a bit and the couples moved to the fore and the action took a back seat. But it didn't go backwards or make me lose interest.
I nearly didn't pick up survivors..book 19 but I knew there would be plot info in there. And it was. It linked the 3 bases together along with the problem affecting them all.
The end of this book was a couple revisit as well as new surprises it was a nice way to wind down the series. I'm kinda sad, I'll miss hell squad, squad 9 and the Berserkers.
Anna Hackett did a great job with geography and history. I'm an Australian and I knew areas she was referring to. She even pinpointed areas in my city that the aliens had destroyed.
Thankyou Anna for a great series.
I'm off to eon, I was half was through and went to hell squad but I love Vivienne Leheny as a narrator, her tones and accents are awesome...
Gotta get off this sci fi ride....not sure when though. 😁😁

Excellent

Tane book 20 and the final in the Hell Squad series is the story of Tane Rahia and Selena. Tane has been watching Selena since she was rescued from the Gizzida after she was abducted from her homeworld and she has blossomed into a beautiful woman and he wants her but, he won't touch her because he isn't righ for her right? They have fought tooth and nail but now the Gizzida have created three deadly, humanity-ending bombs and they are struggling to work out how to combat them. It seems Selena is the key to their success and Tane doesn't like it one bit. He pushes her away and hurts her and then regrets it almost straight away when he sees her with another man at the base but, he did order her to find someone else to explore her sexuality with didn't he. They go on missions together and she is trying to avoid him and he isn't having any of it and he finally gives in and claims what has always been his but is he too late as they head into the final battle with the Gizzida will any of them surivie this fight? This is another story full of humans, aliens, laugh out loud humour and scorching hot romance although this one brouhg tears to my eyes near the end and is a fitting conclusion to what has been a brilliant series that was extremely well written and I have loved every book in the series.
