Acerca de esta escucha
Random House presents the audiobook edition of Talking to My Daughter About the Economy: A Brief History of Capitalism by Yanis Varoufakis.
Why is there so much inequality?
In this short book, world famous economist Yanis Varoufakis sets out to answer his 11-year-old daughter Xenia's deceptively simple question. Using personal stories and famous myths - from Oedipus and Faust to Frankenstein and The Matrix - he explains what the economy is and why it has the power to shape our lives.
Intimate yet universally accessible, Talking to My Daughter About the Economy introduces listeners to the most important drama of our times, helping to make sense of a troubling world while inspiring us to make it a better one.

Radical clear thinking
Yanis is one of the most important thinkers of our time. Four more words needed.

The naked truth
Economists are as much as scientist as astrologists who compare themselves with aerospace scientists, are for using complex mathematics and charts.
The most brilliant book I've read in ages!

Excellent
Masterly explained, thought provoking and sobering, but with an element of hope laced through it that, we humans, can still choose our destiny if we are brave enough to really look at the reality of market society and the forces that move it. Would recommend.

Absolutely fabulous
From watching hours of Yanis' lectures on YouTube the only thing I could wish for now was that he'd narrate his own books.
Perhaps this is unrealistic, though. I'm sure he'd rather spend his time writing new books. ;)

Excelent!
Light on cotemporary political and economic controversies. I strongly recommend this book for us and for our children, independently of our convictions.

A caricature that prevents deeper understanding
The author does not make the slightest attempt at recognising the nuances and complexity of the real world. Instead, the book is just another childish simplification of 'evil elites' versus "the people". While there are many real problems that justify the indignation underlying his critique, there is almost nothing to learn from this book given his overall drive to make a caricature of opposing views, when not deliberately and entirely misconstruing them.
(great narrator, though!)
