Publisher's summary

This mountain man knows his way around the woods. And how to use his hands.

Jenna: I’m a big city girl hiding out in the tiny town of Whiskey River. I’m a runaway bride, hiding from my ex and my family. The shy, virgin mountain man who sells handmade wooden furniture in town doesn’t seem like he would try to control me the way my family did. He’s strange and beautiful.

Phoenix: There’s a reason I live in the woods all alone. People confuse me. Women especially. Trees don’t give mixed signals. Rocks aren’t impossible to read. I work with my hands and keep my life uncomplicated. Then she complicates things. With her, it’s not hard to let down my guard and view the world through her artist’s lens. But I’ve been burned before. A beautiful city girl will never be happy here. I know my way around the woods. Gorgeous women are a whole other story.

Phoenix and Jenna Find Love

Book 2 of the series and I haven’t read book 1, but it isn’t a problem to learn about not only the MMC and MFC but the secondaries as well. People who find solitude and true friendship and love
Phoenix lives off the land with limited contact with other people, of choice. Jenna has moved to Montana in search of herself and finds friendship and live without paying a price.
Love the characters and story and perfect narration. I need to read the first book and want to see what happens to the other Mountain men and hope for them to find love as well

Great listen

This is the second audiobook in this series. The stories are on the shorter side and a great listen for a short trip. Kaci Rose wrote well with a good storyline and likable characters. I love when we get characters from one book to another. I look forward to the next book!

Lacie Glennox and Walker Williams are great narrators! They brought the book to life. Wonderful performances.

A feel-good romance with some heat

Kaci Rose has delivered another marvelous contemporary romance in her second book of the Whiskey River Mountain Men series, “Take Me to the Cabin”.  Finally we have a contemporary romance with a mountain man that is low angst but still steamy with good relationship development.  The hero, Phoenix, is very respectful to women and is a virgin.  The heroine Jenna is a photographer who wants a fresh start away from her rich, controlling family and their superficial lifestyle in Denver.  Although this romance is somewhat short (4.75 hours), the story feels complete and satisfying.  The few love scenes are moderately steamy and excellent.  I love that the obstacles to love were easily overcome.

The book is told in alternating chapters from the perspectives of Phoenix and Jenna, along with a few chapters from Emelie, the heroine from Book #1.  It was great catching up with Emelie and her husband Axel’s continuing romantic life together.

Each book has a different couple, and each of the guys are long-time friends who live off the land on a mountain in Montana.  I love that the author is well-versed in the details of self-sufficient living in remote areas.  There is a little bit of deer-hunting in the book, in case any prospective reader doesn’t like that.

The pair of narrators were absolutely superb.  The narrators, Walker Williams and Lacie Glennox, both have beautiful and versatile voices. Their character voices matched really well, and they both made the heroine’s voice sound melodious and pretty and the hero’s voice sound rugged and sexy.  Their pacing and emoting were perfect.  I look forward to hearing more from these two excellent narrators in the future.

Take Me to the Cabin

This is the second book in the Mountain Men of Whiskey River series. This is Phoenix’s story. Phoenix ran away to the mountains when he lost his parents in a tragic accident, when he was only 18. He sold his parents company and never returned to the city. Jena is from a wealthy family that viewed money as power and control. She finally had enough. She left all the money behind and fled to the Montana mountains. I really loved this book. Lacie Glennox and Walker Williams did an incredible job narrating this book.

Sweet Mountain Man Love Story ❤️

Phoenix is such a kind-hearted, sweet man, who couldn’t help but fall for him.  Jenna moves from the big city to the mountains of Montana to start over.  She meets shy Phoenix in Whiskey River when she wants him to make a table for her.  I really enjoyed listening to their time together and learning more about them. Their relationship is a slow burn full of beautiful moments. I loved everything about this story.  I also really enjoyed their friends in this story and look forward to the next book in the series.
The narration was great and they made this story even more enjoyable.

Sweet short listen

Take Me to the Cabin was a short sweet romance that was a welcome change from long audiobooks. Well it may have been the second book in the series I didn’t feel like I need to read the first one as it included the characters from book one and gave a bit of their story in this one. I liked how Lacie and Walker brought different emotions into the story when needed instead of being the same tone? I think is how you would say it. It was an enjoyable short listen before bed for me.
