I loved Call Me Maybe so much that I think I've listened to it four or five times now and have recommended it to almost everyone I know. Like seriously, it doesn't get much cuter than that story. I was so excited to listen to Sweet Talk, and Cara Bastone didn't disappoint. Chris Brinkley's voice for Eliot was PERFECT (even if I did detect a little southern twang in there??). I would have loved a tiny bit more at the ending, but overall it's a 5 out of 5 for me.

Love These Stories!

I love these sweet and funny stories! This is the second one I've listened to and I love how the first story is connected to the 2nd through it's characters and their familial relationships. They take place during the same time frame so I'd listen to "Call Me Maybe" first. If you're looking for sexy stories then these aren't for you. However, if you want a sweet and funny romantic connection between characters then it's well worth a listen!

Somehow this came up on my recommendations and I spontaneously decided to give it a go. Am I ever so glad I did!! First, this is a clean read -- which honestly isn't my jam but no regrets. Second, the performance is STELLAR. I kid you not. It's up there with Harry Potter in my opinion. The narrators are fantastic, plausible, and consistent. I also loved that it has background noises and sound effects. Felt so much more real, like listening to a movie. Lastly, the story was amazing. I fell in love with Elliot and JD and their friends and family. It was a bit predictable but still very enjoyable. I was rooting so hard for them. I loved how JD was able to deal with problems directly and Elliot was the gentle character. Not really gender reversals but so much appreciation for what skills and talents each have. I LOVED this.

Could I get a few more stars? ⭐️

Like watching tv with your eyes closed

I love the way Cara writes! The character awkwardness and snark is so relatable and the way it is written really makes you feel like you are watching tv with your eyes closed. I’m so ready for Cara’s next book!

Great story & performance

Instead of listening for an hour before bed, I listened to the entire book in one shot, stayed up too late, and loved it. It’s more drama than expected, but the story and performance makes this a new favorite.
