Royal has more trouble than he can handle.

His father's been murdered, and the killer is trying to destroy the Sawyers any way they can.

The last thing he needs is to complicate his life further. Like, say, with a woman.

But Daisy Hutchins doesn't feel like a complication, she feels like the only thing that makes sense in a life turned upside down.

Daisy isn't looking for any kind of complication, especially one of the male variety.

She has enough trouble of her own, and men have brought her nothing but bad luck.

Royal swears he's different. The scary thing is...Daisy almost wants to believe him.

Everything about Royal screams danger for a normal girl like her.

Royal is gorgeous, rich, and powerful.

Daisy should send him packing before he makes everything worse. But when he smiles, all she can think is Yes

Sweet Heart is a stand-alone romance with a happy ending. It’s second in The Hearts of Sawyers Bend series, featuring the Sawyer family of Sawyers Bend.

I read this series out of order, and Daisy and Royal are my favorites so far. Daisy made the mistake of trusting her manipulative father and weak mother, but recognized her own fault in doing so. Despite this, she was a strong, independent business owner who stood up for what was right. Royal was instantly attracted to her and went for what he wanted. He showed her how much she could trust him. I just wish karma caught up with those who deserved it.

I originally picked up the final book in the Hearts of Sawyers Bend series after pre-ordering it, but it had been a while since I’d read the earlier books. I remembered bits and pieces—but not enough. So I decided to start the series over from the beginning, and honestly… it was one of the best reading decisions I’ve made. I had forgotten just how incredible this series truly is.

While each book may technically stand alone, I strongly recommend reading them in order. There’s a deeper, overarching storyline that begins in the very first book and unfolds across the series, leading to a powerful and meaningful reveal later on. Experiencing that journey from start to finish makes everything so much more impactful.

What truly sets this series apart is the writing. Ivy Layne creates a rich, immersive world centered around the Sawyer family, and every character feels authentic, layered, and important. Watching how each family member’s story connects and evolves adds so much depth and heart to the series. The family dynamics are beautifully written, making you feel like you’re right there with them through every moment.

The storyline is absolutely superb—engaging, emotional, and thoughtfully woven together from beginning to end. The romance has just the right amount of spice, perfectly balanced with the emotional depth of the story. And the narration brings everything to life in such a natural and enjoyable way.

This is one of those rare series that completely draws you in and stays with you long after you’ve finished. I can’t recommend it highly enough—it truly is that good.

I love the story and I love the characters. Where are the other books?

No one should have to purchase the entire series to find out who killed Prentis. I feel cheated.

Also, some of the characters are weak and unrealistic. Especially Daisey. Maybe the author should avoid writing about Black characters until she’s able to relate to Black culture. Everyone is not the same but damn, small town or not, I have NEVER met a Black woman like Daisey.

Good story but incomplete

Royal and Daisy’s love story showed strength in the love they shared to overcome obstacles.
