Corey Everheart was willing to trade everything for fame, but when he gave up his heart, he didn't realize what he was losing. Now, as he climbs the ladder of heavy metal fame, the price of his sacrifice becomes impossible to ignore. Amid the blood, the brutal reality of his choices, and a hollow, almost romantic longing for something more, Corey must face the emptiness that fame can't fill. Surgery: Table for Two is a raw, visceral exploration of what happens when we cut away the parts of ourselves that make us human-and what we lose when we dare to rebuild from the wreckage.

Rock & Roll!!!

Corey, heartbroken and hopeless, turns to an eccentric doctor, desperate to be rid of his heart. Offered a trade, Corey jumps at the prospect. Walking in with his heart, and leaving with a guitar that catapults him into fame.
Fame, however, comes at a price. One much higher than Corey can pay.
Fantastic!

Secondly, the basis, the heart, if you will, of this story, is fantastic. The fact you can’t change who you are at the core of your being even with surgery really hits you in the gut. You can be a swamp of a person rich or poor famous or easily forgotten.
Cory is a self-centered man who sees everything around him as being done TO him and everything is a personal affront and when his girlfriend cheats and leaves he tries to find ways to forget her. It’s not until a notice pops up in the newspaper that has him considering surgery—the removal of his heart for one custom made electric guitar.
The kicker? He has to have the guitar strapped to him 24/7. The doctor removed his heart, and with it, slowly, the memories of his girlfriend disappear until he no longer even recognized her.
But will it last forever? Will the fame that his new life brought him bring him the happiness he sought? Or will he be the same man only famous?
You can’t change the substance of yourself.

Michael Neeb, gives another great production in this work. He has narrated 3 of M Von Lindenberg’s books (Forensics and Incendiary).
If M. Von Lindenberg has an audiobook I’m listening to it. He chooses amazing narrators with amazing productions!
