I wanted more!

I love the idea of the DC Icon Series and the origins of these amazing superheroes! Matt de la Pena did a great job of engaging me with his descriptions and dialogues, as well as putting a different spin on this story for me. However, this is the one origin that we know a lot about and therefore might have been even better going all the way back to his infancy. I think that would have given it the same length and depth of the others and made it even more enthralling!

Very good!

I wasn't really sure what to expect before listening to this. I've never listened to an audiobook about superheroes before. It was much better than I was expecting. A lot like Smallville, which I am a huge fan of. But I wish this had been longer. And I wish there were more books like it. The narrator was fine but nothing exceptional. All the characters sound similar, but his voice is clear and well read.

this is a nice tale of the birth of superman with all the problems he had as a teenager. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's like listening to Smallville.

I even imagined the characters as being played by the actors from the show. Brilliant!

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman!

A very engaging take on teenage Clark and some big moments in his development as well as touching on some really interesting topics. It would've been better with different voices for each of the main characters, but as is, it is a really great story if you enjoy Clark/Superman.

Missed Opportunity

An amzing story ruined by intense political views and themes being shoved in your face.
