Such a good prequel to the hunger games.
An amazing and well spoken story of Haymitch Abernathy. Suzan Collin’s is truly a spectacle of our generation. The way she tells stories will never get old, but my god what this emotional. I cried around 4-5 times though out this whole book. Amazing, spectacular and well done story once again. Might be in my top 3 for all of the hunger games books.

Beautifully sad
We knew the story of heymitch wasn’t a happy one, but this story gives details and ties in both hunger games and ballad of songbirds and snakes in a beautifully sad story that will leave you in tears. I’d love to see a story about how pan am came to be and what lead to the first hunger games. I’d call it the Rise of Pan Am.

I cried I never cry over books or movies and it took everything in me not to sob this story was told to perfection

Reminded me of why I love this series
This book perfectly recaptures the same magic of the original trilogy. I am taken back to being in school and reading them for the first time. I literally finished this in less than a day. An instant favorite!

My heart is broken
The book was amazing, I love how it is all tied together. I cried so much. The performance by Jefferson White was perfect!

Holly nutmeg, the story had emotion and layers into how each thing the characters liked

Rich characters and connections
Absolutely love this book! Thoroughly enjoyed how it acted as a bridge between ballad of Songbird and snakes and the original hunger games book. Can’t wait to see the movie adaptation! Would even love a retelling of the hunger games series from Haymitch’s point of view. Even Snow, Plutarch, etc.
