I’ve always wanted a rich doormat.

It’s amazing what a kiss can do. It can make a wealthy cultured man dump his super model girlfriend. He will put aside all of his wants and needs just to hold you while you pine over some other guy. It does not bother him in the least when you meet his friends and ask for the definitions of common words like you are a 3rd grader. His friends know he is serious about you…and somehow they don’t bat an eye when you make out with another dude at the ultra fancy auction. Our rich doormat sends you to select something pricey and you select a tall handsome cowboy like the trailer trash you are. It’s cool. He has the personality of a stick and he comes from a long line of rich doormats that somehow haven’t been taken advantage of to the point of bankruptcy. I did not like this story. Yet somehow I couldn’t stop listening to it. I’m going to have to get the next book in the series. I’m a sucker for bland, rich, doormats who are good at going down on a gal. Dang it Kleypas

Southern love story

I didn't end as expected. enjoyed it. sweet story. totally different from her novels I've read in the past.

The story holds up

I really enjoyed the book and the audio version is very good. I really like the way the author talks about Texans and Houston and the overall culture and business environment surrounding the story. I would have given it five stars, but someone dropped the ball at the end and two words that were mispronounced ruined everything. In Texas we don’t eat “peecans” and we pronounce the “j” on the word “javelina” like an “h”. That may sound petty, but to a Texan it’s like putting beans in chili. I still recommend the book in audio version or otherwise.

Excellent Romance Novel

Great story for those who love a HEA romance novel. Liberty weathers lots of storms and is great character to root for. Second time through this book. Loved it again and I’m moving on to the next one.

Improved intimacy scenes. Less detail means more for the imagination. Still uses the word “chagrin “ , nauseating,

but there’s a protagonist reader can root for. A relief not to have to fast forward through every over amplified and repetitious sex scene. Thx for that. Boy-it was overwrought and slow going until chapter 16. Editor needed to get the reader there in half the time. We GET IT; her sacrifice and devotion to her sister, her mysterious lack of personal ambition. Best segment-especially for young women to read- was how she interpreted her lack of sexual response as a personal failure, being too young to understand the learning curve. Will be reassuring to many young women. Good foreshadowing details. Happy ending. Wish there had been more revealing internal dialogue of her two suitors. Old Churchill was a bit of a cardboard cutout, but covered the bases for the fantasy. And extremely wealthy people aren’t usually this stable or happy, but it’s a nice surprise. Shows her (spoiler alert)…. Outgrowing the childhood relationship that she’d clung to for motivation to keep hope alive. Very generous description of protagonist’s mother and some wisdom as well as accuracy regarding issues of childhood attachment. Heroine was TGTBT, but we need them in our happy endings. Liked the smattering of local Texas color.

Oh….but “javelina”“ is pronounced “HAVE-a- lina”…. So only 4 stars for performance.
