Lucy Baxter is at the forefront in this stand-alone novella. She imagines she is simply going to take up the position of companion to a young Victorian girl in genteel London, but very quickly, events move out of her control, and she finds herself on a journey that she could not have imagined. Separated from her brothers, she is forced to make decisions based only on her own moral code, and hope they will lead her to safety and success.

This novella focuses on Lucy and her journey as she travels back to the year 1855. I enjoy this time travel series even though it is written for younger readers as the author's knowledge of history is evident throughout the story. The author's tale causes the specific time in history to become more real by having the Baxter children time travel and interact with famous people that were part of that time. Rachel Laurence's narration is excellent and adds to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.
