Strawhouse Trail
On a seldom-used smugglers’ trail between Mexico and Austin, a man lies dying. Texas Ranger Chick Bowdrie takes the stranger’s body to Valverde, the nearest town. Upon arriving, a crowd gathers, watchful and silent as Bowdrie tells his story to the sheriff. In the crowd is the beautiful blonde Rose Murray, owner of the RM Ranch. Rose explains to Bowdrie that she has reason to believe the stranger was coming to see her in order to right a terrible wrong. Twenty years ago, the Chilton Gang robbed her family. Once Bowdrie discovers the identity of the dead man, he wonders if the surviving members of the Chilton Gang have returned to recover.

great story line all and all, and was not a disappointment. I could listen to it over and over and not be bored

Written in fashion of detective and dramatic sequences, leads you on the 20 year crime trail to follow the path to find treasures. Very exciting ending.

love these dramatizations by Louis lamour. perfect for a short commute to work. I did not know the third one was a chick bowdrie story but it was a pleasant surprise. one of the better types of western who done its.

The Sagas and the dramatization was most entertaining

All was so enjoyable. My Dad had every book written by this remarkable author and we all read them many times as we grew into adults! What a great talent❣️

Better than I remember

“Minor spoiler for 1st boo”
I used to love reading these stories when I was kid and liked revisiting them through the dramatizations in audible.
All 3 stories are classic westerns and having amazing acting from the show casts.
I will say the 1st story ends a bit out of nowhere but I feel like it worked here and the others were solid work even if a bit cliched but that is part of the appeal for l’amour’s books.
