Got too preachy

I might have given this story more stars, as I thought it was a pretty good story in the beginning. However, in the second half, (around chapter 30-32?) the author turned on the religion and got all preachy. It was very annoying and it added nothing to the story in my opinion. Also, I figured out the ending before I got to it, that is, the reason for the kidnappings. It was pretty obvious at that point, so the suspense of the story pretty much died. Too bad, because it started out really strong.

I would like to note that the narrator of the story did a good job. Unfortunately, though, I would not recommend this story for the reasons above.

not that great

I had a hard time getting into the plot. The reader did not make it easy to follow the story line, and did a poor job differing between the main characters. I found myself lost several times. I finally stopped listening to it. I loved Colleen cobbles earlier books, but I haven't been feeling it for her last few. Disappointing.

Good but not great

I’ve read several books by this author, and this wasn’t my favorite. I predicted most of the plot; it didn’t have as many twists and turns as some of her others.

Characters were frustrating

Overall the book was good. But the characters were frustrating in the sense that there seemed to be a lack of urgency and common sense. it could have been the reader for the book though; I'm not sure if I would have had the same impression if I read it myself vs. listen in to it.

Too Confusing

This is the first time this has happened where I skipped probably half the audible book and read the last three chapters. I did not like how it kept going back then into the present. It was just confusing. I love Colleen Coble books so this was a surprise to me. Sorry

took me a while, but once I got started and past the first couple of chapters - basically the setup, this book was great.

Storyline ended up being ridiculous

Beginning of the story started out well, but by the end it became ridiculous. Not believable at all.

Good Story

Narrator sounds like she is reading a children’s book. The Night Before Christmas came to mind.

Great read!

I really liked the story. I love how faith was woven in. The mystery had twists and turns that kept the story going. There was a little too much romance for me but it didn't ruin the book.

The narrator is annoying

I couldn't get passed the narrator...she makes the characters seem infantile and whiny. I like the author but she needs a different narrator

Great read

Held me from start to finish. Thanks to Colleen I’m going to bed at 1:39am. Couldn’t put down the book 😀
