A Strong and Intense Romance

Straight as a Wheel is the eleventh book in the Sex and Mayhem series. This book focuses on the Smoke Valley MC, but it can easily be read as a standalone. I highly suggest reading all the other books in this series because they are all fantastic. The only thing is that these books are not for everyone. They are raw and gritty; these are men who are morally compromised who make choices that are not good. There is no redemption to these men, just hard love and hard choices. Read the warnings before deciding if this is the type of book for you.

K.A. Merikan are wonderful writers, and they really know how to create a tense and thrilling plotline that sucks the reader right in. The relationship between Leo and Zolt is intense and explosive—from their sex to the measures their go through to protect each other—there is no limits to what these men will do for each other.

The audiobook was narrated by Wyatt Baker who does a fantastic job with the narration. There is a lot of action throughout this book and it requires a high energy performance that does not cross the line into being too over the top or corny. Wyatt does a great job of not crossing that line and creating an electric performance that really enhances the story. Overall I loved this book and thought the audiobook performance was well done.

just OK

Merikan team was new to me. I LOVED The Art of Mutual Pleasure, so I carried on with the Black Sheep and the Rotten Apple, which opemed strong, but then slowly fizzled. it was a little repetitive and began to ramble and be repetitive.......I found that was the case here as well. The reviews were great......dark mc.....this wasn't dark in my opinion. Internal emotions were repetitive and rambly.....to the point it became just kinda corny. The narrator (whispersynched) was new to me and he was fair.

I liked that this book had more of the opposite Leo the biker thinks he needs the wife 2.5 kids and dog to be happy but failed relationship after failed relationship had him down so when sexy af Zolt makes him an offer he can't refuse he gives in just a little, but the taste of submission is all Zolt needed to make him hungry for the Heller biker and now Leo craves more. I loved that once Leo decided he was all in he was going for it. K. A. Merikan still brings some of the fucked MC life in ways you don't expect and I cringed hard, it hits you right in the feels but I loved this book and highly recommend.

Loved It!

K.A. Merikan and Wyatt Baker seemed to make the perfection team. As usual for Wyatt the narration was great and I really loved the story, and how the relationship developed between Leo and Zolt. Their chemistry was palpable from the beginning and I loved them both realizing what they thought would be their perfect plans for the future didn’t compare to the perfect plan the future had for them together. Did find the kid thing a little odd but there’s always a bit of oddity in this series. Really enjoyable listen!

Great book. Favorite one of the series. Gotta give credit where it's due..The narrator does an amazing job. 👏

Sexy bad boys with no rules!

Leo thought he was straight, but he soon found out how wrong he was! This book is super sexy with a dangerous plot involving murder, guns and lawless men. What more could you want? I absolutely loved it!

100% recommend

This book was so far up my alley I think it's my new favorite from this author. It had a dark side and a few twists but nothing too extreme (aside from the poor fish which broke my heart). I'm happy with the ending, there was a satisfying emotional connection, there was an actual plot that was planned out with a bunch of little twists, and it was hot. The narration was fantastic and I hope all the future books remain with this narrator because he really seems to fit the essence and writing style of these books. I 100% recommend.

I enjoyed Leo's character ... soft and loving on the inside despite being a biker on the outside.

I enjoyed Wyatt Baker's narration and think he's done a good job narrating Straight as a Wheel. His rhythm, inflections and intonations all worked to bring the characters and story to life.

I can see this being one of my favorite audiobooks. It is definitely going on my list of books to relisten to. K.A. Merikan and Wyatt Baker did an excellent job on this book. I highly recommend giving this a listen.

Don't miss

Zolt was a surprisingly complex character,and Leo was very likable. This was a very well written and narrated tale that matched the cover perfectly. This was so engrossing that even with a scene which would usually have me skipping ahead or turning it off kept playing.

Hot and Sexy!

This was such a hot sexy and emotional listen!
I loved listening to this book.
I am a sucker for straight to Gay Romances and this one didn't disappoint in the least.
I haven't read the other books in the series but I'll be definitely going back and listening to the previous books.

Straight is not always Straight ...

I so enjoyed this audiobook I could imagine the roughness of both guys working hard in their business-- and then--- wham!

Zolt loves to chase men and to make straight men want more---- is what he offers ..and Leo took the offer!
Leo is one straight biker until he find what he has been missing ...
Great audiobook with wonderful words by K.A.Merikan as normal , they write beautiful words ..

Memorable

I read/listened to this book over 2 weeks ago so a standout point is that I clearly remember the story and how much I enjoyed it.

I have read all the other MM books in this series, and this is easily up there with the others. As usual, both MCs should be on the way to prison, yet somehow get away with murder, selling drugs etc. And...I wanted them too. Amazing writing makes this possible.

Wyatt Barker's narration took a while to get into as he can be quite monotone and abrupt. However, his style is perfect for this series.

Really enjoyed it

I really enjoyed this story and the characters of Leo and Zolt. Zolt starts out as a selfish, hedonistic bad-a$$ who revels in turning 'straight guys,' while Leo is trying to find the woman who can give him the family he craves. He has modeled his life on that of his parents and seeks that perfect life. I loved Leo's gentleness and caring, even when Zolt hurt him, and I loved watching Zolt grow and open up, realizing what he really wants in life. Although this is book 11, it totally stands alone. I have not read or listened to the other books, and I didn't feel I missed anything.

The narration was perfectly suited to the rough characters and environment of the story.

Warning, here is plenty of violence, blood, and beatings in this story, so be forewarned.

Holy hotness Batman!

The blurb made me want to read this instantly! Straight, wannabe-familyman and a straight-chaser! I loved the characters and Wyatt Baker's narration. Wyatt is perfect narrator for the badass biker dudes!

Entertaining...

This book can perfectly be read as a standalone, although I've read other books in the Sex & Mayhem Series and they were really good, so you might want to check those out.

While I liked Leo a lot and I found him adorable in his earnestness, it took me a whole lot longer to like Zolt. I mean, he wasn't awful, but I was annoyed at how difficult he could be. Even when he finally got together with Leo, he was still thinking things wouldn't work between them. *weary sigh* Still, they had chemistry and the Smoky Valley MC guys and their antics were entertaining as all hell.

I liked the narration, although it was a bit monotonous in the sense that there were no distinctive voices for each character, but one for all. It was like having a nicer, more pleasant version of my Kindle reading to me at times.

While it wasn't my favorite in the series, I thought it was a good book overall, so I have no trouble recommending it.

What a ride

I really liked this story. I loved Leo and Zolt slowly became a great man. I liked the pace of the story and how fast things were, which makes sense here. It was violent, not pretty, lots of guns, still enjoyed listening.
I thought the narrator's pace was good and i loved that he switched voices and added in other sounds that just helped to make it more enjoyable to read.
i totally recommend this audio book.

Leo- the straight biker

Leo’s world doesn’t stand for gay bikers. He is straight looking for a wife and kids. So how come Zolt is so attractive to him? This is a very sexy story. Their relationship has lots of chemistry. The characters are all interesting, fun and fierce. Close proximity or genuine care... this couple will have to go through a lot before coming together which is what kept me listening along with the narrator’s great voice.

What a Ride! Wyatt Baker is Fantastic!

Whoa! Nobody does this kind of story better than K.A. Merikan. This one starts at 11 and just keeps building from there. The characters, the violence, the action… and the sex is smokin’ hot!

I adored Leo, he’s such a sweetie! He’s almost 30 and he knows the clock is ticking on his dream of a wife and 2.5 kids. Looking enviously at the relationships in his family, Leo can’t understand why that hasn’t happened for him. He’s starting to think he’ll never find a real connection with the girls he’s been dating, so he’s decided to settle for what he can get.

Well, (thankfully for us) that doesn’t work out.

The authors do a great job showing him work through his attraction to Zolt. I love his attitude about giving head, ‘hey, women do it to me so it’s not that weird to put a dick in my mouth’. But bottoming? That’s a whole ‘nother thing. Oh man, the scene where Leo finally gives it up is amazing.

Reconciling his sexuality is a journey for this badass biker, but he’s amazingly open and willing to the experiences Zolt proposes.

Now for the other side of the coin: Zolt is a jerk. I was cursing him right up till the very end! Hey, it’s the mark of spectacular writing, right? K & A did an amazing job with him. Too many to count, but I think the scene after he gets with Leo for the first time shows him at his worst, I was screaming out loud!

Wyatt Baker does a spectacular job performing Straight as a Wheel and I would listen to literally anything he narrates. His voices are wonderful, and he puts so much emotion into these guys. Plus there are some fun sound effects which work well and really add to the whole experience.

A fantastic audiobook - once I started listening to it, I could NOT put it down. BTW this whole series are 100% standalones.

What a great story. Leo is such a hopeless romantic and straight and Zolt really likes to mess with straight guys. A kiss with Zolt leaves Leo very confused and unsure. When the two are thrown together indefinitely things get even more complicated.This is book 11 but it stands on it's own very well although it has prompted me to go back and read some of the ones I missed.
