An assassin slain. A fleet prepared. A battle looms.

Jacob fears their time is running out. The full focus of Belldorn and Bollwerks tinkers is centered on the construction of the carriers. While Jacob is concentrating on overseeing the work, he worries for Alice who faces a dire challenge of her own. The alliance against Mordair expands as the story progresses towards the battle for Ballern. A lot of great foreshadowing and world building as we learn about Karn and more about Ballern and the Children of the Dark Fire. Eric continues to deliver on an excellent series, and I cannot imagine anyone else narrating the series than Saskia. Book 9 can't come fast enough!!

I wish it were longer. The action starts and practically doesn’t stop until it’s over. Great addition to the series and I can’t wait for the 9th book to be converted to audible!

Book after book, this series keeps you on your toes. The plot twists and character dynamics are wonderful, such a great cast and such beautiful themes to look at war, oppression, greed of power, team work, and childhood innocence in the wake of it all. Well written and an incredible fantastical adventure

I never want this series to end!
