Publisher's Summary

Isn't it about time you stopped being lazy and took back control over your life?

I used to be lazy. Extremely lazy. But just this last week, I ran 50 miles, did three weight-training workouts, attended kickboxing classes, and got a ton of work done, making a nice, big, fat paycheck.

You see, I learned how to overcome laziness - and you can, too.

This audiobook is a nice short listen designed for you to learn the secrets of going from lazy to self-disciplined and productive. It's the audiobook I wish I had when I was younger. The one that could have saved me so many hours of frustration and helped me retire and become financially free much earlier. Oh, and also to get those six-pack abs I finally have. (I was fat once, too.)

Deep down, you know you are meant to live a life better than the one you’re living right now. You know you are capable of doing, having, and being so much more - but you’re too damn lazy to experience who you truly are at your core and having what you’re really worth.

I know how you feel because eight years ago, I was in your shoes. I was lazy, overweight, filled with fear, and living way below my potential.

This audiobook takes you into my personal journey out of laziness and into a life of empowerment and self-discipline. In this audiobook, I will share with you:

  • The mind-set that had me trapped in laziness, fear, and procrastination and how I broke free
  • How I created a new mind-set of a tenacious, unstoppable bulldog
  • What the bulldog mind-set is all about and why you must have it
  • Why I do hard shit
  • Why I became a finisher
  • And more

If you’re really ready to give up laziness, I’ll show you how I did it and how you can, too.

Motivational, but not very original

This audiobook felt like one big pep talk, which isn’t a bad thing if that’s what you’re looking for. Much of the content itself didn’t sound original. However, it’s refreshing to hear from someone who actually walks the walk and seems to live by their own advice.

Another Great Book by John!

John's straight forward approach to his content has always resonated with me. I have all three of his audiobooks, and I have listened to Soft Skills and The Complete Software Developer's Career Guide twice already. I can tell that I will listen to Stop Being Lazy at least 15 times this month since it so short an straight to the point. Just like programming, concepts always seems to take me a while to grasp, so it comforting knowing I can go back to any of his books to and get my mindset back on track. I really wish John would get back into the Tutorial Game and give us some tutorials on all the many hot languages of 2019, like Python, React, Javascript or even an updated version of C.

Short, Sweet, Potty-Mouthed, and to the Point

This book is not for the easily-offended, but if you are easily-offended...perhaps you need to stop being so easily-offended, because often easily-offended people are...gasp...lazy. They waste a lot of time on words instead of getting to the heart of the matter. That's what I like about John's book: he hammers on the reality of the situation: what you aren't doing is still contributing to your reality. So, if you don't like you're reality, find a way (whatever way that is), and do something about it. It's funny, and he doesn't waste words. I like it. I recommend it.

Supports you in becoming a bulldog

I listen to it once a week. It's short but good, takes about 30 minutes at 3x speed.

Short and straight to the point!

Great short book. John gets to the point and does not sugar coat anything. He provides some great advice based off his experiences and how you can apply them. Overall great listen!

Short with a huge Impact! You never let me down!

The book is a little over an hour long and straight to the point. The examples John uses are based on his own experiences and always tie back into the topic. I've read it twice in one weekend pretty much. He makes a lot of good points that we as individuals have probably heard before but need to hear again to be reminded of why we're doing what we do. Thanks for this! I am already tackling my days with more drive, getting more shit done and throwing the excuses out. I will likely be reading it a few more times to come.

This is your best work John

After following John for quite some time and reading soft skills, I think this book has helped me the most in overcoming obstacles. Even though it's a short read I feel like it only strengthens the topic this book covers. This is your best work John and I will do my best to apply these concepts to my life, cheers!

Great little listen on getting it together!

I'm currenyly about 10 hours through his software development audiobook. I came across this and thought it might be worth a listen. He really pinpoints the reasons we are lazy and shows ways to beat these issues. I like his point about how people are not likely to give you praise for doing something difficult unless you proactively did something difficult on your own back. I think alot of people could benefit from the lessons in the book.
