The Monterey Peninsula is rocked when a killer begins to leave roadside crosses beside local highways -- not in memoriam, but as announcements of his intention to kill. And to kill in particularly horrific and efficient ways: using the personal details about the victims that they've carelessly posted in blogs and on social networking websites.

Publisher's Summary
The follow-up to Jeffery Deaver's massive best seller The Bone Collector (now a feature film starring Angelina Jolie and Denzel Washington), Stone Monkey is a "simply outstanding" (San Jose Mercury News) addition to the Lincoln Rhyme series!
First introduced in the spine-chilling novel The Bone Collector, Lincoln Rhyme dazzled listeners with unparalleled forensic sleuthing - all done from the confines of a wheelchair. A famed criminologist paralyzed from the neck down, Rhyme compensates for his physical disability with his brains - and the arms and legs of his brilliant and beautiful protégée, Amelia Sachs. It is Amelia who "walks the grid" for Rhyme, acting as his eyes and ears for the famously dangerous and difficult cases chronicled in Jeffery Deaver's best-selling novels The Bone Collector, The Coffin Dancer, and The Empty Chair.
Now the awe-inspiring duo returns in Stone Monkey. Recruited to help the FBI and the Immigration and Naturalization Service perform the nearly impossible, Lincoln and Amelia manage to track down a cargo ship headed for New York City and carrying two dozen illegal Chinese immigrants as well as the notorious human smuggler and killer known as "the Ghost". But when the Ghost's capture goes disastrously wrong, Lincoln and Amelia find themselves in a race against time: to stop the Ghost before he can track down and murder the two surviving families who have escaped from the ship and vanished deep into the labyrinthine world of New York City's Chinatown.

I love the story but was sorely disappointed in the performance. Mispronunciations are mot acceptable, I felt as if I spent too much time correcting them and it took my mind off the story.

Stick with One Narrator, PLEASE!
I love Jeffrey Deaver but wish he could stick with one narrator. Mr. Dufris does a good job but his pronounciation of Ron Stiletto's name grinds on me each time he says it.. I think all other narrators say STILEETO, not like the knife. Otherwise, good job by author & narrator!
Thanks!

Not the best, not the worst
This is the 6th Lincoln Rhyme book that I've read and it was just ok. The Amelia Sachs character continues to be one of the worst characters in literature. She does something extremely dumb in every single LR novel. It's just infuriating. I often find it difficult to root for her. In real life she wouldn't have made it past meter maid. Her character is gullible and makes terrible decisions. It makes an otherwise interesting story difficult to listen to.

Great book! Good Narration!
I was a bit hesitant when I read the reviews, but I want to read the entire series and I do it while I'm quilting. A lot of people were hung up on the change of narrators. Well, things happen, other people get hired, people say no or get other jobs, who knows. It's such a delicious book that everyone shouldn't get so hung up on who is reading it. He did a great job, the Chinese words couldn't be easy and he did it like it was his native tongue. Also the Chinese cop, Sunny Lee, he was funny, yet adorable. Perfectly done. Well worth the time and money. The twist, well, I had it figured, (except one), was wonderfully done. I wish they would do this as a series on Amazon like Bosch or something. The movie years ago didn't do it justice.

NARRATION
Once a narrator is chosen you should not change him or her . I suspect that audible is going with the low bidder . I am probably going to return this book because I find that so wrong . If the books were not in the same series it would be okay but this changing is a real turn off for me.

Terrible Narration! Awful!
I enjoy the Lincoln Rhyme series, which is why I bought this book. Also why I listened as long as I could, but it was just too painfully annoying to finish. Dufris' version of Rhyme sounds like a cartoon character. I kept visualizing Archer from the FX series instead of Denzel Washington. Such a dissapointment!
