Publisher's Summary

Contains Books 1-3 of the Stone Cold Mage trilogy.

I'd always been special, but never knew it.

Then I go to stay at my aunt's while starting college, and she's killed because of me, her home invaded by demons, and I learn there is so much more going on in the world than I could have ever understood.

Throw in a couple of gargoyles and me unlocking an ancient path to insane amounts of magic, and you have my story.

Be careful, though, as it's not for the prude at heart.

Warning: For adults only: extremely mature or immature adults, that is. And in case that's confusing: Contains spicy harem elements.

Complete shit.

So a while back, I tried, then almost immediately gave up on this series. while the plot had shown the promise potential, it was quickly overshadowed by the EXCESSIVE sex scenes.

but a morbid curiosity eventually dragged me back and I thought perhaps I hadn't given this "story" a fair shake. so I gave it another go, this time listening to it from beginning to end.

needless to say I'm now left wondering if it's safe to pour hand sanitizer into my ears because got worse. It got SO much worse.

This heavily unbalanced story doesn't know if it's a Percy Jacksonesque adventure of magic and myth or a badly written pornographic fan fiction of the Disney Gargoyle series from back in the 90s. (seriously, our "hero" even looks like a gender swapped Elisa Maza with his red jacket and dark hair on the cover)

If you're thinking these forms of story telling are staggeringly different from one another, you'd be right. One moment youre immersed in a battle between our "heros" against supernatural creatures and ancient beings of immense power, the next you're treated to a scene (of which there are several) where our protagonist is describing what a pack of aggressively horny Gargoyles is doing to/getting from his cock. And don't even get me started on how sleazy our narrator sounds every time he says the word "cock". It made my skin crawl.

Every. single. Time.

so let's discuss our "protagonist" Jericho.
He starts off well enough. sounds like a nice enough guy with some personal issues and dealing with how impoverished his family is. He's no Don Juan according to his own personal interpretation of himself, but considers himself a decent man.

It's safe to say that Jericho needs to dive a hell of a lot deeper into the realm of self assessment. 35-40% of this pig's thoughts are how round an ass is or how he would love to see another character naked or how sexy another character is. It's endless. he even takes time to admire how sexy a Gargoyle statue was and at the time he didn't even know she was a real Gargoyle!

this isn't helped when he's surrounded by a nearly all female cast, 95% of which thinks this guy's "cock" is the last one on Earth.

this ruins nearly his entire supporting cast as they are so violently two dimensional, you start to have trouble telling them apart as they eventually become virtually interchangeable.

Jericho eventually racks up an entire pack of females, all of whom seem like they can't wait for a break in the action just to run to a bedroom so they can guzzle our hero's neither region.

It's almost funny when he refers to them as his "team" when harem would've been a more appropriate term.

It's later implied that he actually cares about this pack of sex starved women, but when all he can think about is how soft, thick, or moist his favorite parts of their anatomy are, it renders this concept disingenuous.

I dont know whats harder to suspend my disbelief in, the fact that a pack of beautiful women would all want one man, or that they're unanimously fine with sharing him with each other. And all this ALL THIS could've been made better if the author just made one of his magic abilities some kind of irresistible glamor. Then you could roll your eyes a little less when yet another scene evolves into a threeway.

the narrator is alright, but god, "Caawk". You could tell he loved saying that word. and every time he voiced one of the antagonists they always sounded pretentious.

that's it. it's absolute tripe.

Trashy MMORPG style with LOTS of sex.

Imagine a book where any substance that would add depth or meeting to the story had been carefully edited out, leaving only trash dialog. So many of the details that are necessary to give meaning are just not there. The amount of sex in the book was actually annoying. The lead character would be thinking about sex, or the women that he was around in a sexual way at all times no matter the situation. Not to mention every female character in the book was "hot", and immediately on the main characters jock without hardly an introduction. If a testosterone soaked teenage boy with an 8th grade writing ability was made to pen out his maturation fantasies, and frame the story in a mixup between a bad video game, & C budget movie, then you have this story. I actually was unable to finish book 2 or even start it, for that matter. I have never so thoroughly hated content I have purchased on audible and in my long history of using this platform, I have never left a book unfinished. Do yourself a real solid and refrain from spending your credit on this 1. I wish I had taken more time to read the description before my hurried purchase.

a decent tale the falls a little short

it has a good story and the narrator has a nice voice. the action scenes drag a bit but are entertaining. the sex scenes are penthouse forum rejects and the whole thing would be better without them. they're a failed attempt to increase the interests of men. skip over the unnecessary sex scenes & it's a good story.

Great story

Enjoyed the story. I know one of the critiques was that integrating the government was unrealistic, but given the subject matter I think the author did a great job. It’s fantasy. And this book was a good one. While the mature content was welcome, the story was good enough to stand on its own, and the mature content was not overwhelming.

excellent story.

this is an excellent trilogy, very easy to get caught up in the moment. I read a few of the reviews, and I believe there where one or two that complained about the protagonist being to op, but I myself believe that not to be completely the case. His power equaled his belief/confidence in him self, which is exactly how it's supposed to be. but as I said that is only my thoughts. I do recommend this if you are just wanting a good story to lose yourself in.

At least it's all three

I finished the first two books and couldn't go further. The main character is incredibly boring. While the side most of the side character's are interesting they never got anytime to develop. That's probably my biggest problem with Jamie Hawke's stories there always too short. I was willing to give him another shot since it was 1 credit for all three books, but wasn't really worth it. Narrator did an alright job.

Great book and a fantastic ending

I enjoyed listening to this book series quite a bit and while it is not his highest selling book series i believe that it is one of his best written in regards to the story line but some of the characters seem to be lacking depth due to what seems to be rushed back stories. I highly enjoyed the book as a whole and don't regret the listen but i would have liked a little more background information on some of the women and a better sense of how they interact between themselves as well.

overall not bad

Overall I rather enjoyed listening to this audio version of these stories. Although I think Jericho is an idiot. I enjoyed the ladies both gargoyles and witches.

Basically Erotica

This simply wasn't my cup of tea. I don't like when the the story is basically about the sex I prefer a good story with sex in it. the author sexualized way too many scenes and dialog for me I got through half the first book but dropped it after that since I was struggling to remain interested from the beginning when I realized that if the mc wasn't having sex the plot was just setting up the next sex scene
