Publisher's Summary

One betta fish, two dead biologists, three trysts, four suspects, and 35 pairs of shoes add up to complicated days in paradise for Special Agent Marcella Scott. Marcella gets into sand way over her Manolos investigating the death of a prominent scientist who washed up on a Waikiki beach with a bullet hole between the eyes. BioGreen, a genetically-engineered algae that could solve the world fuel crisis, has been stolen from the development lab - a hotbed of intrigue where everyone on the project has something to hide. Marcella also has a secret vice, more dangerous than expensive shoes - and it leads her into arms that are too close for comfort.

Lei's best friend, Marcella gets her own story!

I can't get enough of Toby Neal's stories narrated by Sara Malia Hatfield! Classic Neal crime novel, STOLEN IN PARADISE is FBI Special Agent Marcella Scott's vehicle sans best friend, Lei Texeira of the Lei Crime Series. In addition to a murder case involving a top secret formula & dead bodies, I loved learning more about Marcella's relationship with hunky HPD Detective Marcus Kamuela---hot, hot, HOT! Sara has the most amazing talent for a variety of voices and the lyrical dialect of the islands.

Loved Marcella's Story!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes!! Toby Neal's stories are always compelling, but adding the Voice of Sara H. to the mix makes the audiobook something really special!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I really liked this story a lot and the tension of Marcella's story - the struggle of her work and personal life. I loved learning more about her, her background, and family. She is an interesting woman to know. As with all of Neal's books, the mystery has unexpected twists and turns.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Although it is a companion to Lei Crime, it was enough of a different type of a story that it really kept me intrigued. I was done with it fairly quickly -- didn't want to turn off my iPhone!

Any additional comments?

The narrator is incredible!!

Great story.

This is my first Toby Neal. It won't be my last. Good work and well worth the listening time.

Hawaii, Sex Club, Murder served with pasta

Overview of this book is this - a homicide worked by relationship phobic detectives who enjoyed a sex club relationship, tossed with Italian parents who are attempting to settle into a Hawaiian retirement.

The narrator was good, she handled accents very well and was appropriately enthusiastic as she read, but I expected more after reading the reviews - I trust reviews.

If you are thinking of listening to this book, you'll find it entertaining, it was just not enough for me.

wrong Italian references

the story is ok and keeps you wanting to read more but I was a bit frustrated by sone wrong Italian references and by the Italian accent that the audible performance had.

As usual, Toby Neal has written an ...

Enjoyable book full of unique Hawaiian imagery and Pidgin. Toby Neal confidently weaves a local major murder mystery, with the self realized discoveries a "flawed" Female lead detective has about her own needs.

Good Who Dunnit

Love the writing style of this author. That said, there is too much explicit sex for my liking.

knocked out of the park!

Another awesome back story knocked out of the park. In spite of there only being a mention of Lei, the story was solid and beckened me to continue with either my kindle or audible version. Well done Ms. Neal

OK (but not great) story; awful narration

Any additional comments?

This is a run-of-the-mill whodunit that fails to be spiced up by sex scenes or beautified by its island setting. One could simply go along for the ride except that . . .

The narration is AWFUL! This narrator's diction is atrocious—half the time you can't understand what she's saying. Even if it's an accurate representation of how Hawai'i residents speak—and I don't know that it is—the mumbling and slurring distract from the story. For instance, she cannot pronounce the word "bureau," which is a noticeable problem because the main character works at "the Bureau" (the FBI). Poor/caricaturish attempts at Southern, Italian, and . . . British? . . . accents don't help, either.

Disappointing.

Detective Story Interrupts Bodice Ripper

This probably would have been good porn, oops, I think it's called a "bodice ripper", but there was a fair detective story interrupting all of the hot-n-bothered writing.

Really, this book belongs in the "adults only" category with an XXX rating.

Yeah, you're right, I won't be reading any more of the trash written by Toby Neal. And shame on the publisher, Audible, and Amazon for not giving this book a proper description.
