Publisher's Summary

Beneath Conrad "Beast" Beeston III's fierce, intense gaze, his brooding temperament, his knuckles scarred from fighting, lurks a wild man, his strong, broad back darkly inked with his own hard truths.

He only has one mode, and "Beast" is it. He ripped through Tilly's life, tearing it to shreds, and then he was gone, giving a stiff middle finger to a life of entitlement. He left her like he leaves them all - with little more than a broken heart. But for Tilly, there was one more thing.

He left her with an unbearable secret she's been forced to keep for years.

Tilly's privileged life, after her recent graduation from Mt. Holyoke, has come to a screeching halt under tragic circumstances. Had she really believed she'd never see her Devil Dog stepbrother again?

Now he's coming home - and she's forced to face his cocky smirk and arrogant swagger, to look once again into the eyes of the monster who left her.

Forced to confront him, what she sees is a raw, broken, tortured man who just might be the only person she knows keeping even bigger secrets than she is.

Worse, she still wants him. Even if it means breaking everything in her life wide open - even if it means unleashing the Beast.

10 CHAPTERS AND NOTHING INTERESTING HAS HAPPENED

Any additional comments?

This book just drags and drags on and on with nothing interesting happening. I cant even finish it. If you want a much better stepbrother story try Stepbrother Dearest.

Might have been okay if..

What disappointed you about Step Beast?

The main female(Tilly) who supposedly was a University Grad, had the brain power of a door knob.

What could Selena Kitt have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Read the above

How could the performance have been better?

The super stud ex-marines had girl voices. Not very convincing.

Any additional comments?

Story concept of book was okay, but the character "Tilly" ruined it all.

Engaging story... Narration needs PROOFING!

Would you listen to Step Beast again? Why?

Probably will not listen to it again. Although this is a very good, engaging, thought-provoking story, the narration really needed to be checked-over or "proofed" before being released to the public. I may just be overly-picky, but I really expect a narrator to properly pronounce words according to the context. For example, "bow" as in the bow of a ship is not the same as "bow" as in rainbow. The narrator mispronounced so many basic words that it was very jarring and really distracted from the rest of the story.

a little too twisted for me

I'm not getting the story line for this book. Just a whole bunch of BDSM. It's not the fact that he's a stepbrother but everything else around it. Just not my type of reading. I couldn't even finish it.

Loved & Hated

I loved this story line because it was different! So many times I found myself screaming at Tilly. She was so naive it was almost unbelievable. I am not sure someone with that type of an education would be that naive BUT i still loved the book.

Narration

The story was pretty ok but the young lady narrating sounded kind of young to me. I couldn't get into the story as much because she sounded like she was 16yr old.
Every characters sounded the same. When I'm listening to a story the voice, sounds and tones make a big difference. Ultimately a male and female voice would have been great for this one but if it would have been a narrator who could have done both voices that would have been fine to.

Great Story

Loved the story but, the narrator was not good for this book. And, could have used dual pov.

Beauty and the Beast

This book by Selena Kitt is nothing like the Beauty and the Beast story line and I really enjoyed it. Step siblings find themselves young and in love with meddling family members. It's difficult to catch ones footing when people are constantly running interference in the back ground of your life - and how does one get out from underneath all the emotional attention?

Holly Hackett did a wonderful job narrating this book and all the personalities .....with secrets. Too many secrets and secrets can destroy -

I would have given the performance a 5 star rating however the "Porn" type music that was too loud at the beginning of each chapter made it difficult to hear the underneath narrators words as the chapter began. It literally drowned out the words.

Shockingly bad and trite

Wow... pass this up. I am committed to finishing books once I invest a certain amount of time in them. I wish I had broken that commitment with this book. It is as if a college student watched too many soap operas while taking a creative writing class and decided she could write a novel. It is over the top. The writing is forgivable in its basic format, the plot is ridiculous, the main character is unstable in that her characteristics change, and every once in a while, just for fun, the story is naively offensive to the reader.

Just to top it off, the reader mispronounces the main character’s name throughout the whole story. Mathilda pronounced with the “th” sound instead of the “t” sound. Although, I did find out that some people pronounce bagels “beg-els”.

Spare yourself- okay, save yourself from this book!

Can't Decide!

*The story was, I guess OK*

Cons:
1. I can't stand the music they play every time a new chapter comes on. It is annoying.
2. The narrator sounds the same for all characters.
3. The main female character (Tilly) is hella annoying in the beginning at times!

Because I manager to get into the story after listening to a few chapters despite the annoying music, the story was not a total waste of money.

Sorry for the spoiler but I hope this helps.

Awesome book

Awesome story that keeps you intrigued.
HATE the music played at the beginning of each chapter. Horrible music that always covers the narration at the beginning of each chapter.
