Publisher's summary

#1 New York Times best-selling author Susan Wiggs sweeps listeners away to a sun-drenched summer on the shores of Willow Lake in a stunning tale of the delicate ties that bind a family together...and the secrets that tear them apart

When caregiver Faith McCallum arrives at the enchanted lakeside estate of Avalon's renowned Bellamy family, she's intent on rebuilding her shattered life and giving her two daughters a chance at a better future. But she faces a formidable challenge in the form of her stubborn and difficult new employer, Alice Bellamy. While Faith proves a worthy match for her sharp-tongued client, she often finds herself at a loss for words in the presence of Mason Bellamy - Alice's charismatic son, who clearly longs to escape the family mansion and return to his fast-paced, exciting life in Manhattan...and his beautiful, jet-setting fiancée.

The last place Mason wants to be is a remote town in the Catskills, far from his life in the city, and Faith McCallum is supposed to be the key to his escape. Hiring the gentle-hearted yet strong-willed caregiver as a live-in nurse gives his mother companionship and Mason the freedom to return to his no-attachments routine. For Faith, it means stability for her daughters and a much-needed new home. When Faith makes a chilling discovery about Alice's accident, Mason is forced to reconsider his desire to keep everyone, including his mother, at a distance. Now he finds himself wondering if the supercharged life he's created for himself is what he truly wants...and whether exploring his past might lead to a new life - and lasting love - on the tranquil shores of Willow Lake.

Another wonderful Willow Lake story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this audiobook to a friend. The story, as usual is intricate. It is full of life, tragedy, family values, and romance found in strange places. Everyone loves a story like this one.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved how the story was about all of the characters overcoming adversity and how hope is the guiding factor in recovery.

Which character – as performed by Joyce Bean – was your favorite?

Alice was my favorite character. I loved how crass she was, but how Ruby changed her and allowed her to let her more emotional happy side out.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The moment when Alice and Mason come to terms with the problems of their past's. It is amazing to see the resilience of people and how together anything can be overcome.

Any additional comments?

Another amazing, moving, heartwarming Susan Wiggs novel.

Great Story

Interesting and not completely predictable characters, all of whom are likable! It’s a little fairytale like, but that’s part of the fun!

Another great Willow Lake book!

If you could sum up Starlight on Willow Lake in three words, what would they be?

Wonderful! Captivating! Charming!
As with all of Susan Wigg's Willow Lake books this one was nothing less than what she has produced prior. I absolutely love this series and her writing style. The books can be read out of order but if read in order when other characters, that were the main characters in previous books, are mentioned you easily recognize them and know who they are. The characters are true to life, the story lines not overly mushy and the books do not describe in dirty detail sexual encounters. She could leave out a word that is used I think twice but other than that the language is kept clean. The only thing I want more when I finish a Willow Lake book is ANOTHER one.

What other book might you compare Starlight on Willow Lake to and why?

All other Willow Lake books. There are no other books out there like them. And trust me, I read a lot.

What does Joyce Bean bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator did a great job. I thought Mason's voice could have been a little less husky but it was okay.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Pretty much and I actually listened to 5 hours of it in one day.

you can always feel the characters emotions

Susan Wiggs gets you into the character's emotional state. My strongest connection to Faith, the main character, was when she was describing the last few minutes spent with her husband before his death. You could feel her sorrow and intrepidation of going on without him.

If you like Harlequin romances, you’ll like this author

I found this book annoying—the plot, the writing, and the narration, and after two of her books I think I’m done with this author. I lost count of the number of times she referred to women’s breasts as “racks”, when of course they were being ogled by a man. Just one example, and if I cared more I’d share more cringe-worthy moments.
