Story
Vex and Vax have always been outsiders. A harsh childhood in the elite elven city of Syngorn quickly taught them not to rely on others. Now, freed from the expectations of their exacting father and the scornful eyes of Syngorn’s elves, the cunning hunter and the conning thief have made their own way in the world of Exandria. The twins have traveled far and experienced great hardship. But with the help of Vex’s quick wit and Vax’s quicker dagger, they’ve always kept ahead of trouble. Now, unknown perils await them in the bustling city of Westruun.

Publisher's Summary
From New York Times best-selling author R. A. Salvatore comes a new trilogy and adventure of Drizzt and fantasy’s beloved characters from Dungeons & Dragons’ Forgotten Realms.
After the settling dust of the demon uprising and two years of peace, rumblings from the Menzoberranzan drow have Jarlaxle nervous. Worried his allies may be pulled into a Civil War between the great Houses, he is eager to ensure Zaknafein is armed with weapons befitting his skill, including one in particular: Khazid’hea. A powerful artifact, the sword known as “Cutter” has started wars, corrupted its users, and spilled the blood of many, many people. Nonetheless - or maybe because of that - the rogue Jarlaxle and a small group of friends will go on an expedition looking for the weapon’s last wielder, Doum’wielle, in the freezing north, for she may be the key to unlocking the sword’s potential...and perhaps the key to preventing the bloodshed looming over the Underdark.
And as they explore the top of the world, Drizzt is on a journey of his own - both spiritual and physical. He wants to introduce his daughter Brie to Grandmaster Kane and the practices that have been so central to his beliefs. But, having only recently come back from true transcendence, the drow ranger is no longer sure what his beliefs mean anymore. He is on a path to determining the future, not just for his family, but perhaps the entire northlands of the Realms themselves.
Two different roads. On one, Jarlaxle and Zaknefein are on a quest to find pieces that could offer salvation to Menzoberranzan. On the other, Drizzt seeks answers that could offer salvation to not just his soul, but all souls.
And no matter the outcome of either journey, the Realms will never be the same again.

Amazing.
Grand adventure with your favorite characters. you'll see some complain about how little drizzt is it, but cmon. he has 17 books and its about time Jarlaxle and the others get their time to shine. tbh I've actually been hoping we would get a book like this. new gang composed of our same characters. it's genius !! oh yeah, Mr. Bevine is absolutely magnificent as always.

OK story, but heavy handed anti-racist theme
I love the Drizzt series. I don't mind that Drizzt features only broefly in this book, but I am only giving this book 3 stars because the story feels artificially focused on hammering the reader over the head with the anti-racist tropes stemming from WotC right now. I am interested to see where the story goes in the coming books, but I wish the telling was done with more finese and less blunt force trying to prove that fantasy isn't racist.

AMAZING
I quite literally randomly found Homecoming back in 2019 and from there it was a free fall across all 30 plus books in this amazing series every single book did not disappoint ( however the random change in narrator very much did no one except Victor is allowed to read the books off don't do that again...ever). some books in the series hit harder than others and this one is one of them! The emotions and thrills of this book are off the charts! I have officially caught up to the story and I CAN NOT WAIT for the next book.

My only issue is that the book is not longer.. Can’t wait for the next one. Salvatore passed Tolkien years ago when it comes to writing. Don’t get me wrong I do love Tolkiens work but Bob’s is on an whole new level..
