“I found the story to be sweet and entertaining as well as funny and suspenseful at times. And when you learn why it's called Starfish you will be smiling with me" (I Scream Books Blog)

Ambitious graduate Marin Collins accepts a four-month internship at a prestigious public relations firm to work on a tech account, but her plans are derailed when she’s assigned to go on the road with touring rock band Kings Quarters, hailed by Rolling Stone as the next big thing.

Enter Brad Osterhauser, the reluctant rock star who would rather be coding computer games than penning Grammy-nominated songs.

Traveling by bus, city to city with a group of practical joking bandmates and a greedy manager, Marin and Brad forge a friendship and forbidden romance over a shared love of Seinfeld episodes, stolen moments, and Red Vines.

But when Marin’s accused of betraying her company and the band, will Brad come to her defense or believe she was disloyal to him for the sake of her career?

Told in alternating perspectives of Marin and Brad, Starfish is a contemporary romance of unexpected love, the redemptive power of music, and hogging the bed

This is a sweet and fun love story. While it was a little light on Rock Star behavior, I think that is what I liked about it most. Brad was more of a closet nerd than a Rock Star and I love me a sexy smart guy. Marin is the PR Rep that was sent on tour with the band to help with their online presence. I enjoyed her character because she wasn't in awe of the fame, just there to do her job and she did give a good effort at not falling for Brad. These two made sense, they had the chemistry and they also had heat! I giggled a bunch at the jokes and antics the band members played on each other. Great romantic comedy, can't wait to see more from this author.

Erin Mallon & Sebastian York.... You can't go wrong with these narrators! They are both fantastic and let me tell you, Erin did an AMAZING job with all the jokes, for example I cracked up hearing her talk like her mouth was completely numb LOL

Absolutely loved it

This book was so much fun to listen to and I absolutely loved the characters. I usually don’t gravitate towards the rockstar romance genre but I had seen such good reviews for this one so I thought I would give it a try. If you’re on the fence about it I highly recommend it.

Fun!

This one was a really fun slow burn. I really enjoyed how Marin was so about her job and not starry eyed over the musicians. Enter Brad. Still, he got her attention. It was a fun ride. It got slightly strange for a bit at the end. But, it was cleared up quick and didn’t really detract. Overall, it had a satisfying finish.

Erin Mallon did an amazing job, as. Always. I’m a fan of these 2 narrators and them together was great. This is my first book by this author and I can’t wait for more.

So Good!

I really enjoyed this. It's sweet, sexy, and surprisingly realistic. It's well written with a fast moving plot. I love the dual POV, I get a good feel for, and connection with, both characters.

Marin and Brad were so cute and had strong chemistry. I love how they encouraged each other to go for their goals. All of the characters felt real and I liked the growth we saw. I enjoyed the pranks that went on amongst the bandmates.

The narration by Erin Mallon and Sebastian York was absolutely fantastic. You couldn't ask for better performances, they perfectly delivered the humour and sweetness.

I highly recommend this, especially the audio version.

Absolutely AMAZING

This book from start to finish had it all: Humor, great characters, hot scenes, great chemistry and fantastic narrators. I hung on every word as the story of Brad and Marin unfolded. It isn't your typical Rockstar romance, that is for sure, but it is so much more. The character development is amazing. Both MC's are complex and evolved and I adored Brad and his love for Marin. Marin is so skittish and hesitant for so many reasons. Erin Mallon always brings an A+ performance to any book and this was no exception. Sebastian York is not your typical Rockstar, but he works for Brad in this book. I loved it so much. It will be a definite re-listen in the future because it was such a beautiful story. Oh, and the songs that Brad wrote for Marin: They were absolute perfection and had me in tears. I would be that mans Starfish anytime.

Couldn't stop listening.....

I was gifted a copy of this by the author and I am so grateful as I SERIOUSLY LOVED THIS!! The narrators are amazing (but I already knew this) but the author was new to me. I simply couldn't put this down and was completely hooked from the start. I loved the main two characters and was shouting at them (sometimes quite literally) to make it work between them. A definite yes for me and I'm now eagerly waiting for the next instalment.

amazing

omg I loved this story ! I'm totally enjoying rockstar romances the more I listen to them , especially when they're more to do with the story line and less about the actual music lifestyle, I was hooked from the beginning with this story , I had some teary moments but most of the time I was smiling throughout, an absolute must read/listen

the narration was perfect and they were spot on with the characters

Sweet and funny

This is the first book I've read/listened to by Lisa Becker. It was a relatively predictable plot and some moments seemed to good to be true, but I really enjoyed it and thought it was both sweet and funny. I loved Chapter 44! (That's why I decided on 5 stars instead of 4.) And I really liked that the name of the book was meaningful.

I've listened to Erin Mallon and Sebastian York before and had high expectations for the audio. They did a great job and I always appreciate having both male and female narrators when the book is written from dual points of view. The only thing that could have made it better was actually singing. The songs didn't seem like ballads from the lyrics alone, but she had so many other great performance moments (like the toothpaste one) that it was still great.

Overall, I would recommend the Audible version for people looking for a story that's both sweet and funny.

I love this book

I enjoyed this book. They become friends and then it escalated from there. I liked it better than love/lust at first sight. It felt real. The band members played practical jokes that were hilarious. I love all the characters. This is a light hearted, HEA, no cliffhanger good time listen. The narration was great and I definitely recommend this book.

Be my Starfish

Starfish is a cute and sexy friends to lovers second chance romance about following your dream.

Marin accepts an internship for a public relations firm thinking she would working on a tech account. Imagine her surprise when she is assigned to go on the road with popular rock band Kings Quarters. Marin becomes friends with Brad, the band’s guitarist, and soon finds it difficult to follow her rule of not getting involved with a coworker. Marin and Brad have great chemistry and decide to pursue a relationship together. Marin knows that she must tell her boss of her relationship with Brad even though she fears losing her job and is surprised when he boss is ok with it. Everything is going great until something happens and Marin’s ethics come into question.

In a large majority of rockstar romances, the heroine has sex with the rockstar the day they meet. I like that Brad and Marin were friends first before they pursued a relationship. They were very likable characters and I enjoyed their story.

Great narration by Erin Mallon and Sebastian York, as always.

Slow burn rocker romance

What a cute story. It's kind of a friends to lovers rocker romance. Marin is given a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel with a rock band. One of the rockers, Brad, and she have intense attraction but do they move forward with it or will Marin stop their attraction due to concerns with work? While there is steam, their banter and the way they are with each other is fantastic. I love how comfortable they are together because it feels like the relationship is truly growing organically. I like that Brad is a little geeky which amuses me and makes me like him even more. So, overall, the characters are great (I love Marin's best friend too, as well as members of the band, including Brad's brother.) It was a little slow and took a while to pick up though but that's why it's slow burn :D

I have the ebook but also I listened to the audiobook, which features Erin Mallon and Sebastian York, both of whom are on the top of the list of best narrators. What can I say- great pacing, fantastic control of their voices even when playing multiple characters, and great infusion of emotion. Definitely worth the read and the listen!

This book Starfished across my heart

Starfish was a wonderfully unique spin on the rock star romance! Marin is an independent USC Master's graduate interning for the summer at a prestigious PR firm. She is unexpectedly assigned to go on tour with the rock band Kings Quarters. Brad is the lead guitarist for Kings Quarters and my favorite kind of hero, a genuinely good man with a bit of a nerdy streak, including glasses and an obsession with coding.

I listened to the audiobook and Erin Mallon and Sebastian York were phenomenal! This was the first time I listened to a book where these two were paired together and as expected it was stellar!!

I did feel that there were some chapters that didn't add to the continuity of the plot, and without giving spoilers, there were some loose ends that I wished were tied up better at the end of the book. But overall I enjoyed every minute of this book and might even find a reread in my future.

I loved it

Starfish, the latest novel from Lisa Becker was an entertaining, heart-warming, fun story, with lovable, relatable and some quirky characters. It was steamy, sweet and hilarious with a little angst included and I was hooked from beginning to end unable to put down this feel good romance.
I loved the main characters Maren and Brad and enjoyed seeing the progression of their relationship. In addition to their romance the inclusion of the friendship and family aspect of the story really added another layer to the novel. The story was evenly paced and well written and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of contemporary slow burn romance.
I listened to the audiobook version which was narrated by Erin Mallon and Sebastian York. These two were absolutely perfect for the characters and they narrated the story superbly. With excellent pace and timing they brought the story to life and it was an absolute pleasure listening to them narrate this novel.
