I’m obsessed with the game.
I spend so many hours playing that I dream about dangerous missions on other worlds...and my gorgeous in-game training partner, Kassius. That is, until I win. I beat Starfighter Training Academy.
But is it a game? Or alien software designed to recruit new, unsuspecting soldiers for a war in another star system? Because when my hot-as-heck alien shows up at my workplace demanding I leave Earth and travel to the Vega system? What? When he informs me it’s my duty to fight Queen Raya and the Dark Fleet? Claims he wants me as much as I’ve craved him? Let’s just say things get crazy.
Facing the truth is never easy, but when I arrive at the Elite Starfighter base, I learn that Kassius cheated the system, hacked into the game, and lied to everyone on two worlds to make me his.
Now who’s obsessed?

This is not an IBP story.
This book could maybe be read as a stand-alone alone but is min 50% better if read after book 1 in the series.
I have no verifiable proof that this was ghost written-KSA, not Grace Goodwin- but it’s a decent story if you like your romances with more kick-ass, take charge women. Like Mia Becker. And bad boys like Kassius Remeas who buck the rules, but are about protection, not self aggrandizement.
Mia has been searching for Jamie Miller who disappeared after winning-completing Starfighter Training Academy and is anxious about what comes next for her after winning. But Mia’s incredulous to see a man who claims to be her Kassius appear at her workplace. After answering her questions and some sexy times, Mia texts Lily to give her a heads up before agreeing to leave with Kassius.
No sooner do they arrive in Velerion space than they are confronted by Captain Sponder who was blocking K’s admission to the Academy. Within hours they are on their first mission. Together, they face as many internal challenges as with the Dark Fleet, but end up victorious and exposing another traitor.
Thompson and Reid do a creditable job of narration. I do prefer the dual narrators unless the individual is truly gifted.
not true Goodwin, but decent

At the opening of the first book, Avery Reid does an excellent job of distinguishing the 3 future fem mcs who are American, German, and British. After that intro, I was so looking forward to books 2 & 3 in the accents. It comes an goes.
Also Tor Thom just doesn't really bother distinguishing between the male mcs. :/
more cute sci-fi erotic romance
