Publisher's Summary

The Alliance Fleet mounts a major campaign against a deadly warlord. Tyrant Ysanne Isard has taken control of Thyferra, intending to use its supply of medicinal bacta to destabilize and destroy the New Republic. Too Abridged

These are fantastic books and the abridged versions do not do them justice. I figured this out from some of the other reviews and actually read the books which are worlds better. I hope that these will be redone without abridgement.

Hard listen for a 'core' Star Wars fan

What didn’t you like about Anthony Heald’s performance?

Everybody is an old man with this readers voice.

Any additional comments?

I have read all the books and looked forward to listening at work. The first three were rough with Henry Thomas; barley into book 4 and wishing they were done by Mr Thomas. Seems these books were read by whom ever would do the work. Fictional stories need to be done by those who can perform a miriad of voices. Christian Rummel, who narrated The Lost Fleet series, would be a great improvement. His ability made listening to a story I had never read/heard before, an amzing jorney.

Why does this series need abridgment?

This series needs to be unabridged. Too much detail is missing from these storylines. These audio versions do not do the actual stories justice, sure I like the effects and background that was added, but the lack of story depth counteracts that production. What a shame.

Abridgment and narrator leave a little to be desired

The narrators accents are muddled at best, perhaps on purpose, perhaps by accident, but it can make him difficult to follow at times. That being said it won't prevent me from getting other books in the series. I only wish they had produced an unabridged collection.

Interesting editing

The abridged version took some interesting choices. Story and performance are fine but I prefer the unabridged version.

Poor narration

I was truly interested in the story, but the narrator was not very diverse in demonstrating a differentiating tone. In addition, his inability to pronounce Coriscant was aggravating. There are movies, cartoons, podcasts. Seriously?!!

interesting to hear the story I have read so often

I have owned a hard copy of this set of books for a number of years and have read each one numerous times. I always enjoy reading them. That being said, I do enjoy listening to these audiobook versions.

The story is adapted from the original but it does not particularly detract from the over all story. The performance is do everything very well as are the sound effects.

I would recommend this audiobook

well worth a listen

I 1st read these bunch of books as a teen and loved them. Easy to listen to although I'm pretty sure it's missing some of the back story from the books which is disappointing.

too many sound effects

It was a decent Star Wars story with good narration but the sound effects got a bit annoying and were too loud compared to the narrator

Strangely disjointed.

Whilst I enjoyed the story, I still struggle with some of the pronunciations. The 2nd hard 'C' in Coruscant is particularly grating. The abridgement wasn't as noticeable as the earlier books. Anthony Heald did a better job, but Wedge's accent got progressively more annoying.
