When Rogue Squadron faces their greatest test yet, their only chance of success lies in working with the sinister Ysanne Isard.

Sleek, swift and deadly, the famed X-Wing fighters have earned their reputation as the Rebel Alliance’s ultimate strike force the hard way—first in battle, the last line of defense. Now they must make a deal with the devil herself—an enemy whose ultimate goal is their total annihilation.

It’s the kind of mission only Wedge Antilles and the Rogue Squadron would dare to undertake. Against impossible odds they will stage a daring raid into an enemy stronghold—only to be rescued from certain destruction by an unexpected ally.

Ysanne Isard, the ruthless Imperial commander, has appeared on the scene seemingly from out of nowhere. Now she proposes a most unusual alliance, offering to help Wedge rescue his captured comrades from Imperial Warlord Admiral Krennel’s sadistic prison camp.

But her offer is not without a price. Wedge must lead Rogue Squadron in Isard’s deadly struggle against an enemy made in her own image. It’s an offer Wedge would love to refuse, for Isard is certain to betray them. But how can they leave their comrades at Krennel’s mercy? The answer is: they can’t—even if it means being caught between Krennel’s ruthlessness and Isard’s treachery.© and (P)1999 Lucasfilm Ltd. and TM.

There’s a universality to the Star Wars franchise, a world so sprawling that no matter who you are, you’re bound to find something—an adventure, a moment, a character—that resonates with you. And if you were to ask any fan, they’d likely be able to recount a memory directly tied to the series. On a 2021 journey from the East Coast to the Outer Rim, one Audible editor and Star Wars superfan saw all of her wildest, most interstellar dreams become reality.

I actually enjoyed Heald's narration of this book. And the story was quite on point in this book!

Heald getting better

Was a good listen I wish Disney would reinstate cannon into their books and action series. The old authors are still better than Disney. You should make new audiobooks using cannon

Decent short story version of the novel. Would have been better if it's unabridged.

Good But Not Great

the reference to other works in the universe just makes it fit well into it's place in the universe

For those who go through the first 7 books, get ready for an unsettling shock. My first thoughts were “that is not the Wedge I spent so long listening to”
You don’t get used to Heald’s character interpretations but have to endure the quick story, (which is just a little tie up loose ends story), since you made it this far!
Positive side is that it’s only 4 chapters and fills in “some” of the many gaps the other stories leave behind.

I have a new appreciation for Marc Thompson
