Publisher's Summary

Merciless attacks by an invincible alien force have left the New Republic reeling. Dozens of worlds have succumbed to occupation or annihilation, and even the Jedi Knights have tasted defeat. In these darkest of times, the noble Chewbacca is laid to rest, having died as heroically as he lived. A grief-stricken Han Solo is left to fit the pieces of his shattered soul back together before he loses everything: friends, family, and faith.

Refusing help from Leia or Luke, Han becomes the loner he once was, seeking to escape the pain of his partner's death in adventure...and revenge. When he learns that an old friend from his smuggling days is operating as a mercenary for the enemy, he sets out to expose the traitor. But Han's investigation uncovers an even greater evil: a sinister conspiracy aimed at the very heart of the New Republic's will and ability to fight.

Now Han must face down his inner demons and, with the help of a new and unexpected ally, honor Chewbacca's sacrifice in the only way that matters - by being worthy of it.

Feel like I've been ripped off

What would have made Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Agents of Chaos I: Hero's Trial better?

If it were not a abridged version of the original book. I've read the books so much of the story is missing it's terrible.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not an abridged audio book.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Would not have cared if the story were complete. I wasted 4 credits on 20% of the story.

What character would you cut from Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Agents of Chaos I: Hero's Trial?

None, it was the lack of the entire story that caused my rating.

Any additional comments?

Do the whole story not an abridged version. I feel like I've been ripped off. Don't even want to keep Audible. The fact that the book is abridged should be highly visible.

Just wish it wasn't abridged.

A classic story and well read but needs to be longer and not abridged as it were.

Too Short

The really good narration saved this abridgment. Love James Luceno’s work, I just wish we could get unabridged titles. Story wasn’t hard to follow, but read more like a screen play than the full novel.

overall good but just personal preference...

The overall story was great, performance was good, just prefer if "Mark Thompson" would of narrated the story.

still hating on Anthony Heald, and abridged books.

I feel like so much of the story is cut out that it doesn't flow coherently. plus with that hack Anthony heald narrating, it's hard to follow what's left of the story that wasn't butchered to pieces. its really an insult to the author that his story was so distorted and cut to piece's. and Anthony healds voice is so monotone th as t u can't distinguish between characters. thus increasing the confusion.

Abridged

Great story, was presented well! I just wish it wasn't abridged. I've listened to all the previous novels unabridged and feel like this was lacking... I hope that an unabridged audiobook will be available eventually. I know this timeline differs from what Disney and Lucasfilm has done with the saga, but it's still a great read and IMHO a better storyline overall.
