Many years ago, a violent solar flare transformed the surface of the desert planet into a landscape of irradiated glass—as beautiful as it is dangerous. Now most of the surviving inhabitants live underground, where rival clans fight to control the planet’s limited resources. As a young Jedi, Qui-Gon protected the Sa’ad farming clan from the planet’s less-scrupulous factions. The Sa’ad practice the art of dream-weaving, retaining their waking minds upon sleep in order to communicate and coexist with the wild creatures around them. Qui-Gon vowed to return if they ever required his aid, but now it falls to Mace to fulfill that promise. The Sa’ad’s leader, KinShan Nightbird, has begged for the Jedi’s help in freeing Metagos from the crime lords who threaten to eradicate her people’s way of life.

Intent on carrying out Qui-Gon’s final wishes, Mace travels to Metagos and infiltrates the enemies of the Sa’ad. But as the Jedi Master investigates the intricate web of adversaries and allies, Mace finds himself pushed to the boundaries of the Jedi code, with his beliefs and his relationship to the Force itself challenged.

Excellent! It felt like I was listening to a Star Wars Movie! Great story, narration, background and supporting sounds

Starts strong - Finishes weak

Started so strong. There’s this “we are so back” moment, however about halfway through, all that momentum slides off the tracks. If you want a better Mace Windu story please look up “Shatterpoint”.

More Mace!

I’m glad to get more lore about Mace Windu. It’s a good story exploring his inner conflict, making him even better to root for.

Disappointed I am

Was very eager for a Mace story and got this. I think it could have been better with the correct narrator. Why are they not using Marc or Jonathan. Even a bad story is good when they read it. And I am not saying it’s bad, it’s just not what I expected.

Okay book

The plot was good, it was just not very interesting, and it didn’t correlate well with other Star Wars books.

Better than Shatterpoint

Fantastic look into the human side of mace windu. Incredible plot and character development. The audio book also was very high quality voice as well as background elements that really added to the story. Definitely check this out if you’re a mace windu fan.

I was a big fan of Star Wars: Shatterpoint by Matthew Stover, back in the day (2003), which also had Mace Windu, one of the first Clone Wars novels.

I was looking forward to this new Mace Windu solo story, after 21 years and I wasn't disappointed.

Jedi Master Mace Windu travels to the dangerous, remote planet Metagos, on a mission that challenges even his deadly prowess ,all to fulfill Qui-Gon's last request. He battles the deadly enemies of the Sa'ad and makes the curiest of friends along the way.

He has to make sure to remember the Jedi Code so he doesn't fall to the Dark Side.

I highly recommend this book.

Good story, Great performance

A slow start, but a really enjoyable middle and end. This book added some much needed lore and insight on the character or Mace Windu, while retaining certain details from Legends. This is my first time listening to a narration by William DeMerritt, but it has already become one of my favorite performances.

Voice actor was excellent!

It can really take you out of a story when the voice acting is off for the main characters. That was a problem I had with a shatter point. This one was fantastic. It just seems a bit preposterous that there are so many people out there of comparable fighting ability to mace windu…. He beat Jango Fett.
