Publisher's Summary

Luke Skywalker wanted to unify the Jedi order and bring peace to the universe. Instead his wife Mara lies dead at the hands of an unknown assassin, his wayward nephew Jacen has seized control of the Galactic Alliance, and the galaxy has exploded in all-out civil war.

With Luke consumed by grief, Jacen Solo works quickly to consolidate his power and jumpstart his plan to take over the Jedi. Convinced he's the only one who can save the galaxy, Jacen will do whatever it takes, even ambush his own parents.

With the Rebel confederacy driving deep into the Core to attack Coruscant and the Jedi under siege, Luke must reassert his position. Only he can lead the Jedi through this crisis, but it means solving the toughest problem Luke's ever faced. Does he fight alongside his nephew Jacen, a tyrant who's illegally taken over the GA, or does he join the rebels to smash the Galactic Alliance he helped create?

A great series!

Very well done for a Star Wars audiobook. Even though it is abridged, the 6 hour run-time leaves enough material to make this audiobook entertaining. That said, you can still notice gaps where, I assume, material was cut out for the abridgement. This can be annoying after a while. I won't beat around the bush, I loathe any abridgement and I would encourage people to complain to the publisher so that they will begin releasing unabridged versions of these books. Other than that, this book was excellent. Marc Thompson is one of the most talented narrators that I have heard. It is a pleasure to listen to him. The different character voices that he assumes throughout the book are executed flawlessly and I had to keep reminding myself that it was the same person speaking. The writing, sound production, and music were all top notch. I would give this 5 stars if not for the abridgement.

One last thing, stay away from any of the star wars audiobooks that are less than 6 hours in length. They are so butchered by the abridgements, that they are not worth your time or money. Quite a few of these are narrated by Anthony Heald and he is just plain awful. I found this out the hard way. Just remember, Anthony Heald = extremely poor narration. Jonathan Davis = Extremely good narration. Marc Thompson = Outstanding narration.

One of the best star wars stories

This book is now one of my favorite of all the star wars stories. Great writing. The narration and production value is also quite exceptional.

Great Series

I loved the entire "Legacy of the Force" series, and Troy Denning's writings in the Star Wars mythos are great.

Another 'edge of your seat' chapter

Yet another great storyline, as well as a great production. The LOF series has met and exceeded my temptations...leaving me yet again waiting for the next installment.

Stop abridging Star Wars books

As always Marc Thompson was amazing. He is hands down one of the best readers around. The book was good but they need to stop abridging the audiobooks. Huge chunks are missing and it greatly takes away from the story

Abridged version makes heroes seem weak/stupid

I haven’t read the full version but I hope there’s a lot missing. Otherwise it’s embarrassing. A conflict tearing a family apart, destroying a solar system, and killing millions of innocent people could’ve been avoided if a couple family members could’ve just talked to each other. And/or if force-powered parents could talk and control their 13-year old kid. Instead they play coy, and then have secrets thoughts in their heads that if they would say out loud then it could’ve been resolved with an argument. Worst case scenario a one-on-one battle where only one person dies. But instead all these poor souls getting blown up, burnt alive, and shot our into the vacuum of space. Cuz Luke couldn’t tell his son no. He can enforce rules to the entire Jedi Order. But not to a 13-year old kid.

Short

I hate these abridged versions of this series. Please release the unabridged versions. Things just seem to randomly happen. Characters just appear places they shouldn't be based on the story that's being performed. If we had the missing parts we'd have been understanding of everything that's going on.

Lord Kides

I enjoyed this story but I had some trouble with it, and Ben came vary close to the dark side but Luke pulled him back. And I liked the segments about the rebuilding of the Mandalor economy.

legends

great story it's a shame that the current makers of star wars think it's more important to do the unexpected than it is to give the fans what they want that's how you make a entertaining film that's loved and it's how you make money

The force is strong with this one.

Great storyline, well read and fast paced. Lots of important happens and battles that help decide the fate of the jedi.

Spoiler **** you’ll thank me ***** spoiler

These books have awful continuity of the force ... they adjust to allow plot and its galling. A trio of grande masters and teenage padwans couldn’t combat a battalion of guards... because what they didn’t have lightsabers and some snipers were hidden in bushes ???!!! Plus what jaina just became a rubbish pilot after it’s been her thing for the last 50 books????!!!!! And hacen can now detach jedi from the force ... well it’s game over then if that could actually happen And in proper James Bond style .... just as luke is about to kill him ... Ben does something ridiculous and Luke misses and tap in to kill him ....you know ... sharks and fricken laser beams yawn yawn Then Luke leaves a crippled jacen alive even though he came to kill him ... just like he did with lumiya who went on to kill his wife .... question... why are the authors writing Luke to be such a pillock And turns out the most powerful entity in the galaxy is the weird little sith ship that has no place in any story. No history of it no mention of it and it’s so powerful that it makes you wonder why the sith didn’t make 2 or 3 or 500 and just rule the galaxy for ever Why is the reader expected to be so credulous to actually accept all this nonsense Who is permitting this rubbish to be printed

Hooked on "Legacy"

I'm completely hooked on this series.
And ive really enjoyed every single book in the story ark.
And Inferno is right up there with the very best of the series.
This is where the overall story of the series really starts to heat up.
Doesn't matter if you Love or hate Jacon Solo...Either way the next step on his journey is simply riveting.
I highly recommend this book to a variety of people from hard core Star Wars fanatics to Anybody that has simply enjoyed a Star Wars movie.
