Publisher's summary

“When all else fails, the ass end of a carp makes a damn fine weapon.”

Your new favorite monster hunter has arrived! Bubba the Monster Hunter has some competition in this horror-comedy collection from best-selling author duo Gail Z. and Larry N. Martin!

By day, Mark Wojcik can be found elbow-deep in engine grease, making cars and trucks safe for the highway. By night, he can be found traipsing through the wilds of Pennsylvania, making the world safe for humans. He's more than just a mechanic, he's a New Templar Knight. He travels the backroads and byways fighting weresquonks, ningen, selkies, ghosts, and . . . gnomes? Is that gnome . . . naked? (Sigh.)

Season One collects the first four novellas in the Spells, Salt, & Steel series: Spells, Salt, & Steel; Open Season; Deep Trouble; and Close Encounters.

Engaging

It reminded me of the Supernatural show. It was funny and dark with a hint of romance. Looking forward to reading the next book

Good Intro Anthology

As always, Roger Wayne does a fantastic job narrating. the stories are interesting and the world building, whole a bit inconsistent in a "the supernatural is hidden but not really" kind of way. Mark is an i terestinf character and I'm looking forward to getting into book two. my only real issue is the Anthology style. if you like this kind of thing then you'll rate this higher than I have. It's just not my kind of thing. but if your on the fence, I encourage you to give this a shot.

That was a fun adventure!

First let me say how glad I am that I’m not the only one that’s wondered if werewolves could have chocolate...

This was a really fun story. I may be a bit biased, however, since I’m from the Pittsburgh area and knew of a lot of places in the story. Go to google street view and search Water Street, Kecksburg and virtually cruise down the road til you see the Kecksburg Ambulance sign and look up on the hill to see the “Acorn”.

Mini road trip memories aside, the story and narration are brilliant!

This whole season was just a joy to binge and I’m hoping the next few make it to audible soon!

great narration! fun story

enjoyed this... very no nonsense and not "angst-y". with so many stories in one group I think it could have benefited from some editing where the explanations of his friends and family got a bit repetative... I wondered if there was a repeat of a story. but, I enjoyed it anyway!

Fantastic!

I really enjoyed this story(s) and the narration was perfect. I kept picturing the main character as Sam Winchester from Supernatural (the good years). I’ll definitely pickup the next audiobook when it comes out...great job all around!

Awesome Book

I have listened to this book many times over since I purchased it. The style, pace, and content of the writing is top notch. Not only is the writing good, the narrator does an amazing job.

Good but the pro gay stuff is a tad annoying.

Most of the book was good. A lot of Bubba the monster hunter feels. The pro LGBT crap took me out of the story though. if it doesn't bother you then yeah I'd reccomend the book

My first Gail Z and Larry N Martin

Usually follow Morgan Brice novels (and love them) but tried this one on a recommendation). Loved it. While it's my first it will not be my last.

Unoriginal and repetitive

In my opinion, if someone is going to try to start a new monster hunter story or series, he or she needs to have an original idea. These writers pause too much from “supernatural“ and not enough research went in to the writing. Anyone who reads fantasy or science fiction genre should know that a Kilby is a fee creature, therefore I Silverblade would do nothing to it. This monster hunter kills it with a silver coated K bar? Sloppy. Also I don’t understand the genres propensity for recapping the basics of the protagonist backstory and other information in every subsequent story. Do writers think someone’s going to start a series book 3?! We know about his tragic start in the monster hunting business, so why rehash it every book? Other than that, the rating was pretty good until the end. Spoiler alert; why why do the riders have to take a left turn at Albuquerque and now all of a sudden aliens? I don’t know seems really far-fetched like they didn’t know what else to do and I was less than impressed. I was hoping for some thing similar to Scott Lang growls books or even build a vampire. This series was underwhelming to me and I will not continue the series if any more books are published. Too many other books exist to spend more time on this. Thanks

Simply enjoyed the storties

Only comment would be that it would've been more enjoyable and flowed better had the chapters continued together as one story rather than seemingly separate ones. That doesn't necessarily take away from the book, but we don't need to hear duplicate explanations about who is whom.
