In Aethelburg, a metropolis built on lies and shadows, one man reigns supreme. From the glittering apex of his tower, the ruthless Kaelen commands a city that bows to his will, its corruption the lifeblood of his empire. But the city’s festering evil has sent a signal into the deep, a dinner bell for an ancient and unimaginable power.

Now, it has come to feast.

A colossal entity rises from the sea, a god of judgment made flesh and armor, drawn by the stench of decay. It is not a mindless beast on a random rampage; it is a surgeon, and the city is its patient. It ignores the innocent and systematically carves out the heart of Kaelen's underworld, its every step a seismic reckoning.

As the city tears itself apart, a desperate alliance of survivors—a disillusioned cop, a hardened dockworker, and a disgraced scientist—must navigate the war-torn streets. They are caught between a monster dismantling their world and the city’s predators fighting to protect their rotten kingdom.

When the last weapon has failed and the final tower begins to fall, the survivors will discover that the only thing more terrifying than the monster that has come to destroy their city is the reason it came.

You can tell Lester Wolfe has a passion for his writing. It shines through his detail, his crafted plots, intriguing characters all presented in a dead serious tone making the action that much more white-knuckled. Lester Wolfe has created a fascinating Kaiju. SPARNEX, A cybernetic monster in cased in living armor - like “GIGAN” from Toho studios. Sparnex seems like it could be a million years old, or more. Rising up to battle corruption & evil when things go out of alignment. I truly wish the author adds more to this story, or writes more stories like this so that they could be combined into a Sparnex collection. So far, Sparnex has appeared in 2 different worlds ( or alternate dimensions ) in 2 stories. Each tale had me hungry for more. So… Please Lester Wolfe, write more Sparnex tales. I don’t need to know the monster’s origins… that might kill the fresh magic of it. Less is more. I just want to hear more about this avenging destroyer defeating evil, human or other-wise, in its cosmos. ~ Hmmm… evil & corruption? Makes me wish Sparnex would come stomping into Washington DC.

Perhaps the best, imaginative, thoughtful & most exciting Kaiju audiobook I’ve listened to yet.
