Publisher's Summary
Christi Caldwell, USA Today bestselling author of the Wicked Wallflowers series, invites you to join London’s most scandalous society in a witty romance of love, rebellion, and second chances.
Widowed Lady Sylvia Elton is out to save young ladies from the terrible fate of love and marriage. Her former husband has retained his reputation as an honorable and loving man in death, but Sylvia has privately mourned his lies and infidelity. Joined by two equally scorned and cast-off friends, Sylvia establishes the Mismatch Society. With each new liberated member, the scandalous circle wreaks havoc on the romantic prospects of London’s frustrated male peerage. But nothing prepares Sylvia for the Viscount St. John, a familiar face and her most formidable challenger.
Clayton Kearsley, the Viscount St. John, can’t allow these wantons to dismantle the Marriage Mart. Until he discovers the ringleader is his old friend’s widow, a fine woman for whom he’s carried a torch since the day they met. Thinking himself undeserving of a diamond like her, he introduced her to his best friend - a decision he now regrets deeply, knowing of the hurt she carries in secret.
Now he is positioned to match wits with this woman, who is determined to save young ladies from future heartbreak. And despite his misgivings, Clayton is entertaining fantasies that he could end their battle with a kiss. If only he had the courage to tell her how he feels - or the hope that she’d ever again let down her guard.
This meeting of the Mismatch Society is called to order...
Critic Reviews
“Narrator Alex Wyndham's low, whispery timbre and sexy British accent perfectly capture both male and female characters. He is especially effective as Viscount St. John. Narrator Emma Roya's voice is equally effective. She excels with the whiny moments of Lady Sylvia's mother and sisters. The narrators' portrayals are compatible, and the smooth transitions between them add to an enjoyable audio experience.” –AudioFile Magazine
“Caldwell provides enough secrets, scandals, and scheming to keep the lovers on their toes.” —Publishers Weekly
“Humorous, tender, and altogether fun, Caldwell’s latest will have wide appeal among romance readers.” —Library Journal (starred review)

Even Alex Wyndham couldn't save
I will never learn. This book is one of the worst I've ever listened to. Christi Caldwell is always hit and miss with me...mostly miss. Alex Wyndham is my favorite male narrator, so I thought I was safe in buying this book. WRONG. After listening to 16 chapters, I couldn't tell you the story line.....much much too disjointed. The characters were undeveloped, uninteresting and without purpose. To make it even worse, there was a co-narrator...I think for the female parts. Not sure why because Alex can do female voices beautifully. Alex and Emma Roya alternated and that confused my ears. I cannot recommend this book, sorry.

Not for me.
If you enjoy men on the submissive and not very astute side, then this is for you! Unfortunately, this is a turn off for me which made it difficult to enjoy this book. Silvia, although clearly the dominant in the story, still fell flat, personality/character, wise. I didn't love nor notlike her, she was just ok.
I will say that the secondary character's were what kept me going. Especially Carlton's 4yr old little sister, she was amazing and amazingly portrayed by the narrator. The narrator's did a good job in keeping me engaged otherwise I wouldn't have pushed through to the end.
This contains sex (another plus for me) so, if you're sensitive to explicit sexual situations, this isn't for you.

Unnecessary
Drew the story out unnecessarily it was also sexually graphic in a way that was unbelievable and unnecessary. I picked this one for the narrator Alex Wyndham and was a bit disappointed with how little of the Reading was his. The other narrator was good but he’s my favorite. The story rambled on and on even when the reader can see clearly where it’s going they take forever to get to the point.

Female narration ruins story...completely
Christi Caldwell fun, Alex Wyndham superlative, Emma Roya's rendition of characters, both male and female voices simply dreadful. Her narration, when not involving charter voices was fine, but when speaking character roles all the female voices were gratingly high pitched and simpering, also undistinguishable from each other, male voices also high pitched though not simpering. When listening to a book it is important that the narrator can give each character a distinctive voice, if not a pleasant one. It is disconcerting to have the characters' voices change between two narrators, disrupts flow of and connection to the story.

Disappointing
This book went over the top with feminism/ women's rights and it seems very un-regency. It's to the point where the story was unenjoyable because all the characters and scenes were overly modern feminist and not at all in place with the time period. I'm not asking for misogyny and surpressed women, but I do want something that it is more along the lines of the time period. DNF

The story was ok
The story was ok. But it went on and on about the same thing all the way. There wasn't much romance in it until the very end.
I loved all her other books, in fact I've listened to every one of them, but probably the reason was because they were all narrated by Tim Campbell, who in my opinion is one of the best narrators I've listened to.
I think he's brilliant so it makes a big difference to the story. Some narrators can ruin the story sometimes.
Normally I love Alex Wyndham as a narrator but in this book his voice was a bit of a sing- song so it was a bit irritating. Emma Roya was ok. But I didn't see the point in having a male and a female if they didn't read the dialogue alternately, according to the gender. Why have male and female narrators when Alex Wyndham can read the female's dialogue well? And the same for the Emma Roya she read the male's dialogue also very well.
I missed Tim Campbell's narrating. If he's so good why change him???
Having said all that I will still continue the series, although I know its going to be ruined by Justine Eyre if she will be reading the dialogue of the males. I can't bear her male voices, they sound pathetic. I can't understand why it can't just be Tim Campbell narrating he's soo good.
