SIMPLE, POWERFUL SOMATIC EXERCISES YOU CAN DO IN 5 MINUTES
101 Plus Exercises to Reconnect. Regulate. Reclaim Your Body.

Mental Health professional review 04/18/25

Do you feel stuck, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from your body?

You’re not broken. Your body is trying to protect you. Rooted in the science of Somatic Therapy, this book offers 101+ scientifically proven exercises and short Intentional Techniques and practices that help you release stress, regulate your emotions, and rewire your relationship with your body.

These Quick 5-minute practices —make them easy to integrate into even the busiest lifestyle. You’ll learn how to:

•Understand your nervous system and why you freeze, shut down, or overreact

•Use body-based tools like grounding, shaking, breathwork, and self-touch

•Identify and release trauma patterns held deep in your body

•Cultivate and feel a sense of safety, even during chaos

•Mindfully regulate stress, anxiety, and overwhelm—without overthinking it.

This book provides a toolkit for integrating mindfulness into your daily routine through the body—not just the mind.

Your body is like the black box on an aircraft, keeping a record of everything you experience—emotions, memories, and behavior. You may not be aware, but your body is and can tell you how to ease your emotional burdens.

When you become aware of your body's sensations, you can use them to manage stress, recover from trauma, and bring your mind and body back into balance.

This audiobook gave me practical tools I’ve already started using, especially the full mind relaxation method. As someone who often reminds my driving students that staying calm saves lives, the message really hit home. The breathing exercises alone have made a noticeable difference in how I settle down before sleep. The author explains that our body stores trauma and emotional patterns and offers over 100 easy somatic exercises to help us gently release that tension. The techniques like grounding, shaking, and deep breathwork are short but powerful. I also found the free printable worksheet handbook useful for tracking my own progress, and no email is required to access it. Whether you're healing from emotional wounds or just trying to manage daily stress, this audiobook is a thoughtful and empowering guide to reconnect with your body and feel more balanced.

What I appreciated most about this guide was the economy of language. The author avoids getting bogged down in overly clinical terminology, opting instead for a prose style that is rhythmic and remarkably easy to follow. Each exercise is introduced with a clarity that respects the listener's time, moving naturally from the "why" of the nervous system to the "how" of the movement.
The phrasing is intentional and grounded, making the transition from theory to practice feel seamless. Rather than a dense lecture, the audiobook flows like a series of well-crafted prompts. It is rare to find a book on physiology that maintains such a light, accessible touch without sacrificing the depth of the science behind it

This is one of those audiobooks you can dip in, try something, and come back when you need a reset. I appreciated how many of the exercises were quick and doable without needing any special setup. All that's needed is just you, your body, and a little curiosity. The grounding and self-touch practices stood out to me, especially for moments when my brain is overloaded and I need something immediate but gentle.

It doesn’t get overly clinical, but still offers enough science to help things click, like the idea that the body holds onto trauma like a black box. That metaphor stuck with me.

I like that it also comes with a 45-page printable PDF workbook, which makes it easier to actually apply what you’re hearing. You don't have to do anything extra to get the workbook after you buy this audible book.

If you’re feeling stuck, burned out, or just want more tools to regulate in a body-based way, this one’s worth a try. Especially if traditional talk therapy has left you wanting more.
