His loneliness will soon turn to fear…. When Chris Buckley moves to Solitary, North Carolina, he faces the reality of his parents’ divorce, a school full of nameless faces—and Jocelyn Evans. Jocelyn is beautiful and mysterious enough to leave Chris speechless. But the more Jocelyn resists him, the more the two are drawn together. Chris soon learns that Jocelyn has secrets as deep as the town itself, secrets more terrifying than the bullies he faces in the locker room or his mother’s unexplained nightmares. He slowly begins to understand the horrific answers. The question is whether he can save Jocelyn in time.

This first audiobook in the Solitary Tales series will take you from the cold halls of high school to the dark rooms of an abandoned cabin—and remind you what it means to believe in what you cannot see.

This is a great mystery/thriller book. I'm not sure why more people have not listened and reviewed it. It definitely has religious undertones but so far I have not felt like that is the only focus of the book. I am a Christian but did not know this book had religious themes in it until after I began listening to it. I do not think it will offend any non-religious people (well it may offend occult people)
It is a teen novel but adults who enjoyed other teens series such as twilight will also enjoy this. The story is a little spooky and creepy. There is enough mystery and intrigue about the town and the people to continue listening. I'm not sure yet if there are supernatural creatures in this series...it is eluded to. The author does a good job at creating and explaining the isolation of a backwoods southern town. I'm interested in learning about the other characters in this book, like Chris's Mother & creepy aunt and missing Uncle , Jocelyn's friends, Newt and the preacher of the church.
It took me a while to get used to the narrator but he was fine after the first few chapters.
If you listen, Brace yourself for an unexpected ending!

Holy Schmoly! I did not expect that ending...

This is a good story with a sad end, I'm hoping for more of "the good guys win" with the second book?

Sad ending hoping for more in next book

No, this is my first but it will definitely won't be my last!

I enjoyed our protagonist, even if I can't make any good argument for the quality of the written character. The plot starts picking up at times, but it always ends up falling, each and every time.

I have been enjoying Kirby Heyborne's cadence and narration style, which is comfortable on headphones or a Bluetooth speaker.

Young Adult horror/mystery can be a great combination of suspense and whimsical delivery. On this, you might agree the book delivers. Our protagonist's inner dialog is mostly believable and overall adds something positive to this story. That quality stands alone, without anything exciting, innovative, or interesting to accompany it.

Kirby Heyborne is the solitary excitement to be found in *Solitary.*

I kept hoping and hoping that the point of the story would be revealed but alas I was left confused. Great narration though!
