Resumen del Editor

Three misfits come together to avenge the rape of a fellow classmate and in the process trigger a change in the misogynist culture at their high school, transforming the lives of everyone around them in this searing and timely story.

Who are the Nowhere Girls?

They're everygirl. But they start with just three:

Grace Salter is the new girl in town whose family was run out of their former community after her Southern Baptist preacher mom turned into a radical liberal after falling off a horse and bumping her head.

Rosina Suarez is the queer punk girl in a conservative Mexican immigrant family who dreams of a life playing music instead of babysitting her gaggle of cousins and waitressing at her uncle's restaurant.

Erin Delillo is obsessed with two things: marine biology and Star Trek: The Next Generation, but they aren't enough to distract her from her suspicion that she may in fact be an android.

When Grace learns that Lucy Moynihan, the former occupant of her new home, was run out of town for having accused the popular guys at school of gang rape, she's incensed that Lucy never had justice. For their own personal reasons, Rosina and Erin feel equally deeply about Lucy's tragedy, so they form an anonymous group of girls at Prescott High to resist the sexist culture at their school, which includes boycotting sex of any kind with the male students.

Told in alternating perspectives, this groundbreaking novel is an indictment of rape culture and explores with bold honesty the deepest questions about teen girls and sexuality.

Powerful, relevant, necessary.

This is the most powerful and important book about rape culture I have ever read. Get it for every teenager you can think of.

Good book but bad audio quality

The story itself is very good however the audio randomly goes from good to bad. It sounds like the narrator is randomly in a tunnel or way to close to the microphone and this really distracted from the story.

Must read for teen girls facing rape culture

Anyone wondering how rape culture works in American high schools need look no further than “The Nowhere Girls”. This novel should be required reading in Freshman English classes. Girls and boys in the town of Prescott unite against a bully culture deep as the football coach, principal, and top team members.

Amazing book!!!

**Trigger warning: rape, sexual harassment

This book was amazing. The author did a phenomenal job exploring an important and difficult subject. The narrator was great too. She did a fabulous job giving each of the main characters their own distinct voices.

Should be required reading for every human

I really feel like everyone should be required to read this book. I am so grateful to the author. I feel like she should get a Nobel Peace Prize or Presidential Medal. Her paradigm shift is pure genius. I am an adult who has been struggling with misogyny in my small town government workplace. The paradigm shift is what I would really like to happen at my place of employment. Beyond that, I believe that every parent should read this book with their high school age off spring. When I was in high school, a book about rape showed up on my book case. But there were no discussions. It took more than 30 years for my Mom to even reveal less than a paragraph of information about the three men who raped her at the U of Wyoming. I knew I had an older brother that was born when my Mom was in college but I did not know the circumstances of his conception. However, the fallout of that trauma has colored my entire life. Our young people must be taught how to prevent this trauma, to protect themselves against it, and to never perpetrate it against anyone else. This book should be required reading for every human.

The Nowhere Girls

I think all girls should read this book in middle school . I know I was quite naïve at that age and this would have made me more aware. I also think it would make a really good movie. Girls and women together are stronger. Girl Power!!

it was an okay read

The topics were very deep and sometimes hard to get through. The writing felt a little too juvenile at times, making it harder to focus so it took me a long time to get through this book. As an audio book, it would have been worth it for another voice actor to have partnered up to read out for the male characters or at least some variety for the scenes with multiple characters speaking.
