Life Changing

This was the first book I read/listened to by Beth Moore and since this book, she has captured me with her sermons, bible studies, workbooks, and anything I can get my hands on. I had gotten to the lowest part of my life as a result of my insecurities and I was in such a black hole, I was desperate for any help. I increased my scripture reading but I knew I wanted to listen to something uplifting on my hour drive to and from work everyday. I eventually stumbled across this and decided to give it a try. I threw my heart and soul into recovery and God used Beth to help guide me. She is personable, passionate about helping women, and relatable. She shared her own sacred stories for the sake of helping us and she did just that. If insecurity has brought you to a dark place and you are desperate to recover, Beth Moore is the exact person to help guide you to recovery and she does it through this book. Whatever type of insecurity you’re struggling with, she covers it in this book. I can honestly say I’m miles and miles from where I started and I’m so much happier where I am now. I pray that Beth will help you through this period in your life the way she’s helped me through mine. God does absolutely amazing things everyday and He showed me how graceful His love is through every step of my recovery from insecurity. God is going to help you through this and here is one amazing tool to start with.

great tool for self development

If you're not afraid to be confronted and challenged you'll definitely will get the most out of this reading. For me the reading took longer because I needed to digest every teaching and surrender to the process... I remember the prayer chapter, I honestly made it mine and I assure you I got deliverance from my insecurities!! since then my life has been different. I am going to start a group study with some friends ! I loved that the narrator is Beth, you get all the honesty and passion of the one inspired to write this book. Strongly recommended!!

Oh no!

I am sure this book was meant with the best intentions and read with passion by the very Beth Moore, but what a disappointment. My first impression was: Narration is way too aggressive. I could hear the passion and while that’s a great thing for her to have it gave me anxiety and in some parts I just couldn’t take her serious. I usually power through books that seem to be repetitive and possess content that isn’t relatable just because I might find a gem in between the pages. This time I just can’t bring myself to continue listening. I thought maybe it’s just the voice and reading it would be better, but it has so much loose biblical content decorated with so much opinion and so many extra words that I am bored to say the least. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Anecdotal and religious

I prefer books that have a research base that is broader than anecdotes and chats with friends and neighbours.

I also didn't expect the constant scripture references, not my cup of tea.

It also felt rather ranty and loud.

Sorry, I skipped a lot and tried to persevere but I did not get on with this style or approach.
